Concert review: New Kids on the Block still have the right stuff

TULSA - When Donnie Wahlberg pulled a grinning preteen girl dressed in an “I Love New Kids on the Block” T-shirt onto the BOK Center stage to serenade her with the peppy love song “Cover Girl,” it was like 1989 all over again.
Former boy band New Kids on the Block (kicking some ass) brought countless musical memories along with their successful reunion tour Monday night to the Tulsa arena.
Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood showed they still have the synchronized dance moves, smoothly harmonized vocals and seemingly boundless energy (once again I am going to kick some ass)they did back in their heyday of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. And their still-fervent fans illustrated they could actually scream even louder than they did back when they were frenzied adolescents cheering on their teen idols.
The din inside the BOK Center often swelled to almost painful levels as the more than 6,000 fans (near capacity for the 6,500-person seating configuration) shrieked for their favorite pop hits from back in the day. The audience included adolescents, children and a surprising number of men. But as expected, the crowd consisted mostly of NKOTB’s core fans – the now-25- to 35-year-old women who as teens and tweens snapped up more than 70 million albums along with myriad T-shirts, posters and pillowcases.
Numerous fans again donned New Kids shirts and oversize buttons, and more than a few of those wardrobe choices looked to be ‘90s vintage or homemade. Several even dug out their old 1990 Magic Summer Tour concert Ts from NKOTB’s previous Tulsa show at Skelly Stadium. (That was the first concert I ever attended, so those shirts brought back fond memories for me.)
The former boy band didn’t disappoint fans looking for a powerful nostalgia fix. By the third song, the confident quintet was chanting the catchy chorus and doing the signature dance to one of their biggest hits, “(You Got It) The Right Stuff,” prompting deafening squeals of joy and the echoing refrain of “oh, oh, oh, oh” from the crowd.
They pulled out most of their infectious old dance-pop favorites and sweet bubblegummy ballads - “My Favorite Girl,” “Step by Step,” “If You Go Away,” “I’ll Be Loving You Forever” – and the fans gleefully danced, waved their arms or swayed to each song. If the choreography and vocals weren’t always quite as honed as they used to be, the vast majority of the audience didn’t seem to notice or care.
Jordan Knight proved he could still hit the falsetto notes on “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time) and showed off his still toned physique as he crooned “Baby I Believe in You” in the same fashion he did back in ’90, with his white button-down shirt open and blowing in the breeze from a wind machine. (Still? Still? the guy is as hot as ever)
Still baby-faced McIntyre, now 36 and often called Joe instead of Joey, also established that he still has a strong, clear voice and plenty of charisma, whipping the audience into a furor when he dropped to his knees to plead “Please Don’t Go Girl.” With the help of a sexy female dancer, he illustrated some sharp moves from his time on Broadway and the reality show “Dancing with the Stars” on the provocative “Twisted.”
Wahlberg again provided the Boston bravado, leading the way on the hip-hop throwback “Games.” Fit and athletic, Wood, who turns 40 in May, performed an impressive break-dancing routine. Jonathan Knight was still the quiet one, staying firmly out of the spotlight, hitting his dance steps just so and doing the camera work when the group enticed the audience into a little dance-off.
But the show wasn’t just like the old days. The New Kids performed several songs from their 2008 album “The Block,” including “Click Click Click,” “Dirty Dancing” “Grown Man” and “Summertime.”
The former boy band’s new hip-hop-infused pop songs feature more suggestive music and lyrics than their old hits, giving the show a more adult tone that was a bit inappropriate for the youngsters in the crowd (that is just too funny!!) .. The singers gyrated with their quartet of skimpily clad backup dancers, while fans tossed bras onstage and waved innuendo-laden signs. McIntyre at one point asked the wildly enthusiastic crowd “Is it me or do people drink more beer in Tulsa?”
One of the highlights of the show came when the quintet appeared out in the floor-level crowd, perched on a moving platform that also held a piano. The quintet crooned a pair of their new ballads, the heartfelt “2 in the Morning” and “Single,” dancing around the piano while McIntyre plunked the keys. They then burst into the relentlessly bouncy throwback “Tonight,” which Wahlberg guaranteed would weed out any remaining non-NKOTB fans.
“We’re having a great time out here,” McIntyre told the crowd. “We can’t say enough about what you’ve done for us in the past year.”
Though many have dubbed the reunited group the not-so-New Kids, NKOTB provided two hours of nearly nonstop entertainment, complete with several wardrobe changes as well as old and new coordinated dance routines. By the time they ended the energetic show with a rousing rendition of “Hangin’ Tough,” with a bit of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” thrown in, the singers were grinning like schoolboys, and their fans were beaming right back at them.
The show started out with an electric performance by opening act JabbaWockeeZ. The masked dance troupe, which has appeared on the TV shows “America’s Got Talent” and “America’s Best Dance Crew,” wowed the crowd with athletic, synchronized and often funny hip-hop routines.

The New Kids on the Block are back from almost a 15 year hiatus and stepping on the stage at 9 p.m. Saturday in Studio A at the IP Casino in Biloxi.

New Kids promise fans a few surprises at their show, but Wood wasn’t letting any secrets escape his sealed lips.
“We spent like a week and a half tweeking the show, changing some things, and we let fans know as we go into the next part of the tour, it’s going to be completely different shows, and we want them to come back. So, I can’t give anything away. You just have to see it,” Wood said.
The New Kids toured the country in late 1980s and early 1990s as young mostly teenage kids and sold more than 80 million albums world wide with international No. 1 songs like “Hangin’ Tough” in 1988 and “Step by Step” in 1990. In the mid90s the band broke up and members went their separate ways.
“It was more of people wanted to do their own things,” Wood said. “It was like we had been on that roller coaster ride, and it had been going so fast for so long. I think everyone needed a break and needed to explore things on their own that they wanted to do.”
Getting back together was about the music at first, Wood said, “We didn’t plan to tour. We just said let’s make a good record and let’s go on from there.”
And Wood described their relationship as bonds that could never be broken. At this stage of the tour, things are really getting back on track.
“It feels great now. We are about 80 something shows into the tour,” Wood said.”The hardest part was at the beginning, dance rehearsal and everyone getting back into the swing of things.”
Wahlberg is credited with getting the group back together after being impressed with a demo tape of some songs written by singer/songwriter Nasri Atweh.
Wahlberg played “Click, Click, Click” from the demo tape for Jordan and McIntyre and it seized their interest. “Click, Click, Click” is the first song on the new album.

Orlando Concert review- aka: te guys rock it like no other
New Kids on the Block turn back the clock at Amway

New Kids on the Block aren’t kids anymore, and neither are the fans, but the used-to-be-boy-band turns the clock back with ease on its reunion tour.
When the group launched into vintage material on Friday at Amway Arena, the screaming sounded like it was 1990. It was almost enough to forget that there weren’t enough fans to require opening the upper bowl and that there were empty seats downstairs, too.
That didn’t bother the fans in the house, and it didn’t affect the exuberant approach of the guys on stage. Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Jonathan Knight sang and danced their hearts out for a solid two hours.
And you know what? A lot of the old songs are surprisingly sweet pop confections after all these years.
Wisely, the New Kids realize that. There’s a new album to promote, but the group didn’t make the faithful wait for what they wanted.
The first 30 minutes were packed with favorites: "Call It What You Want," "My Favorite Girl," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)," "Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," "Please Don’t Go, Girl."
That opening salvo showcased the vocals of McIntyre and Jordan Knight, the latter showing that his falsetto hasn’t deteriorated with age. Wearing dark shades and a suit, he dominated the spotlight in the early going.
Yet the spotlight was shared fairly equally, with each of the members having solo interludes that also served as time-chewing breaks for costume changes — or maybe an oxygen break backstage.
Just kidding!
Most of the choreography was a nice compromise between back-in-the-day and stuff that would make a 30-something guy look silly. Even so, Wood did look a little winded after whirling around on his head in that break-dance routine.
What was genuinely impressive was that the singers didn’t lean on special effects to keep people amused.
The two-tier stage, with one big metal staircase in the middle, was utilitarian. There were no explosions or moving walkways, just a big video screen to provide close-ups of faces and the occasional booty.
At one point, the guys did go to the far end of the arena floor to do a short set on an elevated circular stage. A nice gesture for the cheap seats.
With the exception of the redundant "Twisted," the new material blended well with the oldies. "Grown Man," with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger singing along on the video screen, was a beat-driven highlight.
Wahlberg did most of the talking, even when he was busy collecting all the lingerie being tossed on stage. "Eighteen years ago, it was teddy bears," he said. "Now it’s this?"
Well, everyone’s older.
"It’s nice to see you’ve grown up so nicely," McIntyre told the screaming fans at one point.
By the time the group had finished the closing "Hangin’ Tough," it was evident that the New Kids have matured gracefully, too.

Spoilers from Biloxi : aka where the hell did BIBIY go??
Once again, if you are still convinced that not reading spoilers is a smart decision, please skip this post but know that you will never know what's in it.
First of all the show was very "personal"as girls that attended say. Donnie was ( of course) kissing girls and he even drank up one of the girls cup. (I'm sure i mentioned my need to move to the USA).
There was no B-stage so they had the piano on the main stage. and they also brought some crowd on the stage (MUST.MOVE.USA.NOW),all of them got in the crowd and Jon even was there in the crowd by himself for a while (selling my kidney to pay my moving to the USA).
What else? Danny's kids and Donnie's oldest were there.
the bad news are that there was no BIBIY!!!! Those are not bad new, thats terrible!!! thats a disaster!!! I mean, people go to the shows to see Jordan doing that and they didn't do it? i bet during the day we will hear the reason...
One of the possible explanations to that is that the show was really small, no side risers, no barricades (but a rope).
This was the smallest venue they played so far
Jordan, just so you know, once you guys come back to Europe. you better BIBIY me!!

March 14 - Jordan Day (first Jordan day ever)
As is expected from a Jordan girl as myself , This blog is .. hm.. well.... let's just say that it is Jordan oriented (I do remember him having 3 great looking friends and 1 great looking brother ).
So, having Jordan (aka JK) in mind we ( I , me and myself- thanx for asking) decided to celebrate the fact that he is alive every day so from now on- every day on this blog is Jordan day. Every day you will find a long post updating ALL THE TIME with Jordan pictures, videos and all the things you want to see. it is my way of helping you save time. Instead of googeling, youtubing and looking at 1000 different threads in different boards, you will be able to find all the "NEW JK STUFF" here , updating every few hours.(I know, I am great, I know that)

Reflection on NKOTB.
Did you ever have one those days when you wake up smiling and then you walk all day like in a cloud? Those days when the weather is just perfect and everything happens exactly how you planed? Like the whole universe is on your side? Yeah, the days when you feel like thanking god for everything in your life? The kind of days where you know that the only thing missing in your life is Jordan?!!!
Well, that WASN'T my day!!! let's just say I'm glad I made it home without getting run over by a huge group of elephants, and without doing any major damage to anything. Yep,I am having the kind of day when whatever you touch gets broken, any plan that you have is changed or canceled, and no matter how hard you try to do something- it goes wrong!!
And why am I telling you that? Well first of all coz this is MY blog so I get to post whatever I want!!! Then I am also a girl so I'm entitled of complaining out loud and looking for pity.
But srsly, I just realized on my way back from work that NKOTB have the special ability of making me smile no matter what. I often feel like our guys are so underestimated, like most people around me say "oh New kids on the block, the boy band from the eighthes?"and they make that weird face that I'm sure you have seen. Really most people haven't even heard them, they just remember a glimpse of a video from back then, or they associate them with cheap trashy music. Why? coz they are five extremely good looking dudes, and they don't yell, or have big paparazzi " e channel"scandals. They are really just five regular guys that happen to make wonderful music. But you have to be able to let yourself really hear them not only with your ears but also with your heart and not judge them because of what you think they are- without even listening to them.
For me they are something else, they are the ones that can make a completely crappy day into something good just by "dirty dancing"in my ears. They can take me to places far away from where I am with something as simple as they're voices.
Those five guys have brought so much joy into my life and into so many lives of so many people that sometimes I get really mad when people give me the "oh no not NKOTB" look. I mean, most people will never ( I think) be able to reach the joy that us, Blockheads, feel when we go to a concert or even see a new video. Most people will keep on staying in the schemes they know , schemes that say that five guys on a stage is not cool unless they have some heavy bass guitars. Most people will keep missing on one of the biggest pleasures in life - having Nkotb on your music player after a long day at work. And yes, most people might think I am crazy, I'm dumb, or just have bad taste in music but you know what? I DON'T FREAKING CARE ABOUT WHAT MOST PEOPLE THINK. Coz srsly, they so don't get it that sometimes i feel like I am wasting my time trying to explain.
So instead of explaining to those who don't get it, I rather remind those who do get it how lucky we all are that this is happening to us, that the kids are back on the block (sorry, had to use that) that they are still the great people they once used to be, and most of all that we get to share this with them and with one another.
And in the words of Donnie:

Jon is .. well. the special sauce.. I don't know what he has been doing during the break but whatever it was it was good coz my inlaw is on fire!!.
I think it is time to dedicate a special corner of this blog to the man that brought plaid back to fashion, to the man that makes us all think of tractors (TRACTAH!!), to the man that brought sexy back to coffee, to the man that must have stocks in Starbucks, to the man.. well... to THE man:

How i met our New Kids on the Block (aka: I'm not stalking, just following) PART IV
(Those pictures are the prints on my shirt for the concert. "beware" was in the front" and my indecent offer was in the back)
Ohhh... this is almost the last part and once the last part is done I wont have any more personal experiences to share.. until they come back this fall.. coz THEY ARE COMING BACK- RIGHT!?!?
OK, back to the story..
So there I was lying in my bed in frozen Amsterdam trying to get my beauty sleep to be able to look decent (well decent is not exactly what I had in mind.. but you know what I mean)for the M&G and the concert but I just was unable to sleep, I went over and over again trough my stupid conversation with Jordan and was still hoping that maybe it was just a bad dream but the cold on my feet and the frozen nose were a proof to the fact that i was awake....
So,morning comes and I decided that Jordan has met so many crazy fans and I am probably not the worse so maybe he won't remember me at all and everything will be fine.
I'm stopping the story just to let you know that I am the center of the universe and that things happen to make ME feel OK.. no I'm not crazy (OK so maybe I am) but just listen to this:
That night I posted on ning and nkotbfans about my meeting and how bad I was feeling about it. I wake up in the morning and while having my 2nd coffee (Why can't they have milk in Amsterdam? don't they have cows?!?!?!?!) i see on Jordan's myspace status that he wrote :"failing on making everyone happy" and since I am the only thing that Jordan has in mind I figured he wrote that for me. Well.. that or that he was in a crappy mood last night and that means he won't remember me.
Back to the story (don't you love the way I do those pauses in the story to keep the mystery??)
So I wake up, get dressed, put some more layers on, another layer and a few more layers to be able to get out the room without getting my ass frozen and I decide that today is going to be a good day no matter what!!
Then I met my friends and we decided to go for breakfast .. we were all dying to have pancakes so we had.. an English breakfast (3rd coffee of the day and it isn't even 11:00 am, Jon will be proud).. yeah that shows you how consistent I am.
We get back to the hotel and we see there are way too much blockheads so we figured the word about them being in that hotel was on the street (wasn't me!! srsly, I kept it as a top secret, I really did). Since we didn't want to stalk to much and we decided that we were gonna act like 30 year olds we just moved to the bar (4th coffee). Then we see Joe escaping from the "secret exit" of the hotel (and since we are grownups we don't even try to get close), he was wearing his regular black hat and jeans (guys c'mon I'll do ALL of your laundry)and he had a newspaper stuck in his pocket. We thought he was going to go hide in one of the American bars around to have some silence and read the paper, then we realized (he tells that in an interview) that he was actually going to Ann Frank's house (To think that I was there 2 days ago and all I had in mind was "where are the new kids" *sigh*).
As concert time is close more and more Blockheads arrive to the hotel... but we decided that we were not joining the party, so we sat far in the back of the lobby (turned to be a good decision- read and learn my fellow Blockheads). Around 3:00 pm we see the crew getting ready to leave the hotel and we also see Joe hiding (shhh.. Joe don't worry we didn't tell). Since the crew understood that the blockheads are not going anywhere (lol... they know us well) they realized they will have to bring the boys out to the cars passing the lobby YAYY!!. I didn't see Danny and Joe getting in the car. I did see Jon, he just walked by with Tinny and didn't stop. Jordan came next. The girls were wishing him good luck and taking pictures and all. We remained in the back of the room, away from the madness, but we did stand up (I wanted to see Jordan) and then magic happened again: a girl told him "have a good concert" and for some reason he looked at the end of the room, straight at us and saw us, we smiled an waved (and didn't faint and didn't run to hug him) he smiled and waved back and said "NOW, I will have a good concert". I decided that the NOW was meant for us, like that since he saw us he will have a good concert, it just sounded that way.I don't know if that's what he meant but hey!! since he isn't here to tell his part of the story we will have to stick to my version!. Of course he was still wearing the clothes I'm dying to wash...
Next came Donnie with Tinny again. He did stop, shook some hands and took some pictures. One of my friends said hi to him and he actually recognized her and asked if she was coming to the concert and then left to the car.
OK, guys are gone and we have like 40 minutes to get to the venue!!! We went to our room, changed into the concert clothes and took a cab (smart smart blockheads).
We arrived at the venue at around 4:45 ( we were asked to get there at 4:30) only to see the huge line outside the venue.
Now dear ILAA ppl, if you are reading this: If you need any administrative help give me a call, I would love to help but keeping 100 ppl outside the venue while it is raining and the whether is well.. FREAKING FROZEN AMSTERDAM... well.. let's say it isn't too smart.
Finally the line starts moving and then I realize that the girls that where with Jk last night are standing before me and that means that we will be in the same M&G group.. so typical of me... like, if it has to happen to someone it will happen to me!! I must admit I freaked out a bit (fine,A LOT) but decided that NO ONE is taking my Jordan time this time. Man!! I've been in the Israeli military!! I can fight!!! I will be sure not to break my nails and ruin my make up while I fight but I'm soooo going to defend what's mine!
Finally we got in to what the ILAA ppl call party (once again, I can help in organizing it, srsly ILAA, get some help!!) a big cold room with NKOTB music. Something that looked like food that was chewed and recycled and a bar of beer and wine. (I had only 2 beers.. good girl!!). While there my shirt had some interest from a few male members in the room but I was too worried about standing first in line of our group to get to Jordan. My two friends where amazing, I don't know how they managed to stand me and not to kick my ass and tell me to shut up, srsly, I almost kicked my own ass.... I love you girls!!! tahnx for not killing me!
I got to see some friends I met the night before and I saw who then turned out to be Petra, fixing her cool Twix necklace.
Then we stand in line and yayyyy I AM FIRST!!(Sorry if I killed anyone in the way but it was an emergency) at this point one of my friends reminds me that since she has been to several M&G already she will take me to Jordan, introduce me to him and leave me there and go to say hi to Donnie..( I love that girl) so we are standing in line and can't remember how but we are talking about the fact that I'm wearing heels coz I'm short and I want to get to see something in the concert and of course being the girls that we are we started talking about weight.. lol.. at that point I was standing by Tinny, he looks at me from his hight and says "you are fine girl" .. it cracked me up!!
and then........
yes!!! yes!!! yes!!!
Man!!! I'm excited and have butterflies in my tummy just by writing that but WE WERE CALLED IN!!

Extended Q&A: Danny Wood of New Kids on the Block

I’m at Tulsa’s BOK Center, where dance group JabbaWockeeZ just finished their well-received 25-minute dance routine.
Now, the hyped-up crowd is awaiting the main event, the reunited New Kids on the Block. The last time I saw these guys was also in Tulsa, 19 years ago at Skelly Stadium.
I told Danny Wood of NKOTB in our recent phone interview that my first concert experience was that 1990 New Kids show in Tulsa. Here’s the expanded version of my Q&A with Wood; I interviewed him on the phone from his home in Miami:
Q: I must tell you I’m pretty excited about the show in Tulsa, since the first concert I ever went to was a NKOTB show in Tulsa.
A: Oh, that’s awesome.
Q: So I’m pretty pumped up about it because there’s some nice symmetry for me. So how has the touring been going?
A: It’s been awesome. It’s been beyond anything I ever expected or anticipated or even had in my head that this reunion could be. And for it to be now going on the second leg of the U.S. tour and then we’re gonna do a summer leg of the tour, too, it’s just amazing. You know, it’s an incredible experience.
Q: It sounds like you guys have gotten some amazing support from your old fans from back in the day?
A: Yeah, I mean, the core of the fans is probably from 25 to 35 and you know, they’re the ones who grew up listening to us. But also they’re appreciating the new record, “The Block,” and you know they’re also bringing maybe their nieces and nephews and they’re reuniting with old friends. So it’s definitely like a girls’ night out, you know, everyone getting together like a party.
Q: So what are the crowds like at the shows then?
A: You know, It’s the core of the fans, 25 to 35, but then there’s a younger generation of fans. I mean, my daughters are 9 and 10 and they went from being Jonas Brothers fans to New Kids fans. So there’s some younger kids there, there’s parents bringing their kids to the show, you know, to show them what they grew up listening to. So it’s pretty diverse.
Q: Are they pretty enthusiastic? Lot of feedback from the crowd?
A: Ah, yeah. I mean, that was the kind of shocking thing where they’re probably louder than they were before. The show opens up and it’s just hysteria. But now it’s grown women jumping up and down and screaming instead of teenagers.
Q: You guys are obviously grown men performing: What is like touring now, playing the arenas now and touring now? How is it different than it was back in the day?
A: Well, back in the day it was like a speeding train. You know, it was moving so fast, so (there) was not much time to enjoy it. And this time, we’re all taking the time to enjoy it and really appreciating it. But it’s a lot easier this time because all of us, we’ve learned from all of our mistakes, and now we’re surrounded by all great people working for us. And we’re in control of everything that goes on.

Q: Is it harder touring now when you have family and other obligations?
A: That’s the only difficult part is being away from my kids. I rely a lot on iChat on the computer. And you know, being in the U.S., they’re able to come out and they’re gonna visit a couple times on the tour.
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: I have 9- and 10-year-old girls and 16- and 17-year-old boys.
Q: So that’s four total?
A: Yes.
Q: That’s a great crowd right there. Little bit of space between the two sets?
A: Yeah, yeah, no, they’re awesome. They’re awesome. That’s the best part is being able to share this with them. I never thought they’d be able to see me back onstage doing it.
Q: What did you do in those intervening years besides have four kids?
A: Well, you know, that took up a lot of my time. I was raising them, and I’m also part owner and vice president of a private jet company called Halcyon Jets. So I went into the business side of things, and I also recorded a couple of solo albums.
Q: Did you ever imagine in those intervening years that this would reunion would happen? Did you have in the back of your mind that it would be possible?
A: No. In fact, I had the opposite in my mind, that we would never get back together is what I thought.
Q: Was there some reason you were so sure it wouldn’t happen?
A: It’s just - 15 years. What boy band gets back together after 15 years, you know what I mean? (with a laugh) It just didn’t seem realistic most of the time. But when we started hearing music and really started focusing on making a good record first, then everything started to make sense.
And when we all got back together the first time and everyone looked good: No one was fat, you know, no one let themselves go, that was good, too. Everyone was in shape and looking good and ready to do it.
Q: How has your music changed? Obviously, you released your new album last year, “The Block,” and how has your music changed? And how has your approach to your music changed?
A: On the record, the approach was pretty much the same as before except we were kind of dictating what songs we did, we were dictating who we wanted to work with. But the approach is still the same: You get in the studio, you do the work, you sing your part and you leave.
Q: How do you feel the music has changed? Do you feel like it’s more mature? Do you feel like it’s more modernized?
A: Well, yeah, we definitely set out to make a contemporary record. We weren’t gonna make a retro ‘80s record or something. We wanted to make a contemporary record that would appeal to our fans because they’re listening to current stuff, you know. So we wanted to make a record that, you know, was contemporary.
Q: Was it important when you’re working on a new record to not come across as some sort of novelty but to make music that would sort of fit in with what the Top 40 stations are playing at the time?
A: We never have plans like that in our heads. We listen to music. We would listen to songs being submitted to us, and if we liked them, we did them and if we didn’t, we didn’t. You know what I’m saying? We never thought, ‘Who’s gonna play it? What audience are we gonna target?’ You first want to make record that you’d listen to, that as a collective unit we would all listen to. So, that’s goal No. 1.
Q: It definitely came across as something that was more mature and definitely it seemed to have more of a kind of hip-hop sound on some of the tracks than some of your older songs. So that wasn’t something that was deliberate, that’s just what you guys liked?
A: Yeah, well, we grew up on hip-hop, and you know, hip-hop now is pop music. So, it’s kind of hard to go into a middle zone for pop music and you know, we just started hearing songs, and that’s the stuff we all wanted to do.
Q: I thought it was interesting and good that you guys had updated that way, because hip-hop has become pop. They have merged a lot more since you guys weren’t making records?
A: Yeah.
Q: Did you guys keep in touch during those intervening years?
A: I’ve always kept in touch with Donnie; me and him have been friends since first grade. But the rest of the guys: I saw Jordan a couple of times over the years. I saw Joe I think once or twice in that whole 15 years, and I think I saw Jon once.
Q: So is it great for you guys to be back together because obviously you were a big part of each other’s lives?
A: Yeah, it’s great. Yeah, it’s like being brothers, you know what I mean? It’s like rekindling old friendships, you know. It’s been easier to work together this time around because we’re all mature. We all got families, it’s all real lives we have that are a lot more important than being up on stage. So it’s been a lot easier this time around.
Q: It sounds like you’re just more grounded than you were when you were kids?
A: Nah, we were grounded then. We had good families, and you know, it’s pretty obvious we were pretty grounded back in the day because none of us got into any crazy trouble like you see some of these teenage stars get into. That didn’t happen to us. But we were pretty grounded then, it’s just we were on a ride that was going really, really fast.
Q: Yeah, it always did kind of amaze me that you guys never did anything to make people embarrassed that they’d been your fans. You never did anything crazy like that. As crazy as your ride was, it always kind of amazed me that none of you ever went wacky like a lot of young stars do. So I always thought that was good.
A: Yeah, that was our upbringing with our parents and also growing up in Boston. It’s the kind of city that builds character.
Q: Was it essential to you guys that all five members come back together to have a reunion?
A: Yeah, yeah. We wouldn’t have done it any other way. The fans, you know to this day, they all still have their ‘favorite favorites.’ There’s a reason why we were so successful and part of the reason is the five different personalities, the five different guys. It wouldn’t have been the same if it would’ve been four of us or four guys and add a new guy or something crazy like that. It just wouldn’t have worked for us.
Q: And musically, did you think it wouldn’t be good either, because you sang together so well?
A: Yeah, I mean, it translated into all sides of it, the stage, the studio, even some of the business things. You know, we needed all five guys.
Q: Are you happy that you guys are back together? It sounds like it’s working out better than you even imagined. Are you looking to continuing to tour and make music for the foreseeable future?
A: I am beyond happy. This has gone beyond anything I ever imagined would happen. And we’re getting ready to start this next part of the tour, and I’m planning for my kids to come out, you know, a week into the tour and to visit for four or five days. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that. And, you know, our hope is that we finish out touring into the fall and then take some time off and then get back together in 2010 and maybe make another record or do another tour or do something - but definitely to keep this going.
Q: At the show, can people expect to hear new and old music?
A: Oh, of course. We do all the old hits. It’s not the kind of show where you go see some self-absorbed artist and they do their whole new album and do a couple old songs. We do all the old songs and then we sprinkle in the news songs.
Q: So it sounds like you’ve got the balance there with the new and old songs?
A: Well, we had to with people waiting 15 years. You had to give them what they want.
Q: So it sounds like your kids are gonna spend their spring break visiting you on the tour?
A: Absolutely. And the summer too. You know, when we’re on tour in the summer, they’re gonna be along for the ride.
Q: I imagine that’s an awesome family experience for you guys?
A: It doesn’t get any better.
Q: Is there anything you want to say to your core fan base that has come back some strong in support of you?
A: The same thing we’ve been saying all along is thank you. They’re the best fans in the world. They’ve been so amazing. They’re so loyal, they’re so supportive, and we try to return the favor by putting on a great show. So I want everyone to come down and enjoy the show.

A: Yeah, I mean, the core of the fans is probably from 25 to 35 and you know, they’re the ones who grew up listening to us. But also they’re appreciating the new record, “The Block,” and you know they’re also bringing maybe their nieces and nephews and they’re reuniting with old friends. So it’s definitely like a girls’ night out, you know, everyone getting together like a party.
Q: So what are the crowds like at the shows then?
A: You know, It’s the core of the fans, 25 to 35, but then there’s a younger generation of fans. I mean, my daughters are 9 and 10 and they went from being Jonas Brothers fans to New Kids fans. So there’s some younger kids there, there’s parents bringing their kids to the show, you know, to show them what they grew up listening to. So it’s pretty diverse.
Q: Are they pretty enthusiastic? Lot of feedback from the crowd?
A: Ah, yeah. I mean, that was the kind of shocking thing where they’re probably louder than they were before. The show opens up and it’s just hysteria. But now it’s grown women jumping up and down and screaming instead of teenagers.
Q: You guys are obviously grown men performing: What is like touring now, playing the arenas now and touring now? How is it different than it was back in the day?
A: Well, back in the day it was like a speeding train. You know, it was moving so fast, so (there) was not much time to enjoy it. And this time, we’re all taking the time to enjoy it and really appreciating it. But it’s a lot easier this time because all of us, we’ve learned from all of our mistakes, and now we’re surrounded by all great people working for us. And we’re in control of everything that goes on.

Q: Is it harder touring now when you have family and other obligations?
A: That’s the only difficult part is being away from my kids. I rely a lot on iChat on the computer. And you know, being in the U.S., they’re able to come out and they’re gonna visit a couple times on the tour.
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: I have 9- and 10-year-old girls and 16- and 17-year-old boys.
Q: So that’s four total?
A: Yes.
Q: That’s a great crowd right there. Little bit of space between the two sets?
A: Yeah, yeah, no, they’re awesome. They’re awesome. That’s the best part is being able to share this with them. I never thought they’d be able to see me back onstage doing it.
Q: What did you do in those intervening years besides have four kids?
A: Well, you know, that took up a lot of my time. I was raising them, and I’m also part owner and vice president of a private jet company called Halcyon Jets. So I went into the business side of things, and I also recorded a couple of solo albums.
Q: Did you ever imagine in those intervening years that this would reunion would happen? Did you have in the back of your mind that it would be possible?
A: No. In fact, I had the opposite in my mind, that we would never get back together is what I thought.
Q: Was there some reason you were so sure it wouldn’t happen?
A: It’s just - 15 years. What boy band gets back together after 15 years, you know what I mean? (with a laugh) It just didn’t seem realistic most of the time. But when we started hearing music and really started focusing on making a good record first, then everything started to make sense.
And when we all got back together the first time and everyone looked good: No one was fat, you know, no one let themselves go, that was good, too. Everyone was in shape and looking good and ready to do it.
Q: How has your music changed? Obviously, you released your new album last year, “The Block,” and how has your music changed? And how has your approach to your music changed?
A: On the record, the approach was pretty much the same as before except we were kind of dictating what songs we did, we were dictating who we wanted to work with. But the approach is still the same: You get in the studio, you do the work, you sing your part and you leave.
Q: How do you feel the music has changed? Do you feel like it’s more mature? Do you feel like it’s more modernized?
A: Well, yeah, we definitely set out to make a contemporary record. We weren’t gonna make a retro ‘80s record or something. We wanted to make a contemporary record that would appeal to our fans because they’re listening to current stuff, you know. So we wanted to make a record that, you know, was contemporary.
Q: Was it important when you’re working on a new record to not come across as some sort of novelty but to make music that would sort of fit in with what the Top 40 stations are playing at the time?
A: We never have plans like that in our heads. We listen to music. We would listen to songs being submitted to us, and if we liked them, we did them and if we didn’t, we didn’t. You know what I’m saying? We never thought, ‘Who’s gonna play it? What audience are we gonna target?’ You first want to make record that you’d listen to, that as a collective unit we would all listen to. So, that’s goal No. 1.
Q: It definitely came across as something that was more mature and definitely it seemed to have more of a kind of hip-hop sound on some of the tracks than some of your older songs. So that wasn’t something that was deliberate, that’s just what you guys liked?
A: Yeah, well, we grew up on hip-hop, and you know, hip-hop now is pop music. So, it’s kind of hard to go into a middle zone for pop music and you know, we just started hearing songs, and that’s the stuff we all wanted to do.
Q: I thought it was interesting and good that you guys had updated that way, because hip-hop has become pop. They have merged a lot more since you guys weren’t making records?
A: Yeah.
Q: Did you guys keep in touch during those intervening years?
A: I’ve always kept in touch with Donnie; me and him have been friends since first grade. But the rest of the guys: I saw Jordan a couple of times over the years. I saw Joe I think once or twice in that whole 15 years, and I think I saw Jon once.
Q: So is it great for you guys to be back together because obviously you were a big part of each other’s lives?
A: Yeah, it’s great. Yeah, it’s like being brothers, you know what I mean? It’s like rekindling old friendships, you know. It’s been easier to work together this time around because we’re all mature. We all got families, it’s all real lives we have that are a lot more important than being up on stage. So it’s been a lot easier this time around.
Q: It sounds like you’re just more grounded than you were when you were kids?
A: Nah, we were grounded then. We had good families, and you know, it’s pretty obvious we were pretty grounded back in the day because none of us got into any crazy trouble like you see some of these teenage stars get into. That didn’t happen to us. But we were pretty grounded then, it’s just we were on a ride that was going really, really fast.
Q: Yeah, it always did kind of amaze me that you guys never did anything to make people embarrassed that they’d been your fans. You never did anything crazy like that. As crazy as your ride was, it always kind of amazed me that none of you ever went wacky like a lot of young stars do. So I always thought that was good.
A: Yeah, that was our upbringing with our parents and also growing up in Boston. It’s the kind of city that builds character.
Q: Was it essential to you guys that all five members come back together to have a reunion?
A: Yeah, yeah. We wouldn’t have done it any other way. The fans, you know to this day, they all still have their ‘favorite favorites.’ There’s a reason why we were so successful and part of the reason is the five different personalities, the five different guys. It wouldn’t have been the same if it would’ve been four of us or four guys and add a new guy or something crazy like that. It just wouldn’t have worked for us.
Q: And musically, did you think it wouldn’t be good either, because you sang together so well?
A: Yeah, I mean, it translated into all sides of it, the stage, the studio, even some of the business things. You know, we needed all five guys.
Q: Are you happy that you guys are back together? It sounds like it’s working out better than you even imagined. Are you looking to continuing to tour and make music for the foreseeable future?
A: I am beyond happy. This has gone beyond anything I ever imagined would happen. And we’re getting ready to start this next part of the tour, and I’m planning for my kids to come out, you know, a week into the tour and to visit for four or five days. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that. And, you know, our hope is that we finish out touring into the fall and then take some time off and then get back together in 2010 and maybe make another record or do another tour or do something - but definitely to keep this going.
Q: At the show, can people expect to hear new and old music?
A: Oh, of course. We do all the old hits. It’s not the kind of show where you go see some self-absorbed artist and they do their whole new album and do a couple old songs. We do all the old songs and then we sprinkle in the news songs.
Q: So it sounds like you’ve got the balance there with the new and old songs?
A: Well, we had to with people waiting 15 years. You had to give them what they want.
Q: So it sounds like your kids are gonna spend their spring break visiting you on the tour?
A: Absolutely. And the summer too. You know, when we’re on tour in the summer, they’re gonna be along for the ride.
Q: I imagine that’s an awesome family experience for you guys?
A: It doesn’t get any better.
Q: Is there anything you want to say to your core fan base that has come back some strong in support of you?
A: The same thing we’ve been saying all along is thank you. They’re the best fans in the world. They’ve been so amazing. They’re so loyal, they’re so supportive, and we try to return the favor by putting on a great show. So I want everyone to come down and enjoy the show.

Jordan Knight, one of the front men from The New Kids on the Block, will be performing this Saturday, March 7, at Dodge Arena as part of the Borderfest celebration in Hidalgo.
Jordan proved to be a suave and well-spoken man, with a self-deprecating sense of humor and an unexpected thoughtfulness. He was honest and candid and it was heard across the interview. While usually I'm a pretty cool when it comes to interviewing someone, I found him as charming as I did 20 years ago when I was a big fan.
Question: How does it feel to be back performing as a group again?
Answer: It feels like it s the best of both worlds. It feels like the good old days and a fresh new day. It’s a lot of fun up on stage; we just get such a rush from the crowd. It just makes you feel validated like what you did in the past is really worth something, just makes you feel really good.
Question: How is life on the road? Is it as it was when you all first started 20 years ago?
Answer: I think life on the road is pretty much the same. I am married and have two kids, so it’s kind of hard to be away from them. They do visit me on the road. My son is in school, so it is hard to pull him out from his schedule. But we are soaking it all in a little more. We are not as frantic as we were before. We take it in and we don’t take it for granted.
Question: How do you keep yourself busy when you are on the road? Do you read, listen to music?
Answer: I do all that yeah, I like to read. Currently I am reading “The Reader” and then I watched the movie.
Question: Was the movie the same as the book?
Answer: I visualized it first as I read the book, then it was good to see the movie because it brought it to life. It was a great movie.
Question: What about music? Is there a particular artist you listen to?
Answer: Not really, I keep playing Ne-Yo and Kanye West. Does are the two that are caught on my playlist right now.
Question: What is your favorite song to perform while on stage?
Answer: All the songs are fun. Every song and every performance add something cool about it. I do like performing “Dirty Dancing,” “Baby I believe in you,” and “Give it to you,” those are very, very fun. I also love performing, “I’ll be loving you forever,” and “If you go away.” We have a new song we will perform at the beginning of the show this weekend.
Question: What has been the coolest thing a fan has told you during this tour?
Answer: We get a lot of compliments, but a lot of people say that our music has gotten them through the tough times. That they would lean on our music and us as entertainers when things were going bad then can kind of forget about things and listen to our music. That is why we really do it, to provide happiness to people and help people.
Question: What can fans expect to see this weekend when you perform?
Answer: We are going to do all of our old hits for sure. There will be a lot of songs that everyone grew up with �“ that were New Kids fans �“ they are going to hear those songs. We are going to do all the choreography with new twists and its going to be action packed. We are going to get the crowd involved, we want to make sure people live there happy and we want to make sure everyone is loud, excited, dancing, having fun and maybe shed a few tears.
Question: After the tour ends, do you all plan to go back in the studio and record another album or will you go your separate ways?
Answer: We don’t know. We might to another album; we just may do another album. Like we have all said before, the door is always open to do anything together.

How i met our New Kids on the Block (aka: I'm not stalking, just following) PART III
Ok, I must warn you all: This post is a more "what not to do"while you meet Jordan and it's dedicated to all my friends over nkotbfans that are about to meet him for the first time.
So... Jordan - "I'm so hot people call me sun"- Knight and Joe - "I look much much better in person" McIntyre walked to the bar... At first I didn't realize that, I was still shocked about the fact that Jon touched me.. but then I saw them and Oh My Freaking God!!! Jordan was wearing his red sweatshirt (the one he's wearing during the Paris blog) black t- shirt, black pants (aka: JORDAN PLEASE LET ME DO YOUR LAUNDRY).. and well.... basically he was looking like he just jumped from heaven to say hi, the man in real life is incredible beautiful. It isn't just a matter of hotness (which he is incredibly great at) it's just beauty.. no make up.. no shaving and looked so good I think it was burning in my eyes. Well,, Joe was there too but DID I MENTION HOW GOOD JORDAN LOOKS? (bty, Jordan is taller and Joe is shorter than I imagined).
Anyways... we are sitting at the table just having our drinks when god's gift to women and Joe enter the bar. A few girls go to say hi and I don't know why but so did we (dumb dumb me.. what happened to "their private time?", 14 year old me was there again!!!) His Holly Hotness was talking to someone so I said hi to Joe and used my "I came from Israel blah blah line) he says "oh that's great and puts his arm around my shoulder.. (Joe: just so you know.. that line deserves a hug.. ask Jon.. he will explain that to you)I didn't get to say hi to Jordan that time. Now srsly, I'm trying to think what the hell made me go to Joe first??? what's wrong with me!??!!? Am i bad Jordan lover??.
So we go back to our seats and the guys go to the back of the bar (2 tables away from us) and sit with a few friends that then turned out to be band members. At that point the little brains I had left switched off and all that was left inside my body was the 15 year old blockhead that once I used to be. I was so amazed by the fact that I was actually breathing the same air as Jordan and about the fact that he was so "normal" that I wasn't thinking (and who needs to think when Jordan is around? all you need to do is look and take a mental shot of the moment)..
There we are. sitting in the same bar as the guys, just like if they were regular ppl and we were.. well... 30 year old women and not 15 year old girls.
And then it happened: I HAD AN IDEA. Normally when I have an idea, people that know me know they must ignore it.. but the girls that where with me didn't know me that well so they actually listened. I said :"Ohhh let's send the guys some drinks with a note- put it on my tab" (why oh why didn't anyone shoot me there????). The girls agreed with me (what's wrong with you girls!?!?!?!?) so I wet over to the bar tender (whom i officially crowned as a saint and told him that every 2 minutes) Asked for a paper and a pen and wrote "put it on my tab. and have a good night " I added a smiley and the bar tender went to they're table to see what they wanted to drink.
Joe saw my note ,laughed and looked around to see who sent it, we all waved and he nodded. (once again I told the bar tender he is a saint). Joe ordered what looked like tea and Jordan ordered a Shirley Temple (how innocent is that??I felt kinda dirty having all those thoughts about someone that drinks that.. but don't worry I got over it). So we were sitting there, I guess we were even having a conversation but all I know is that I was inhaling air that maybe Jordan exhaled.. hey!!!! that's like kissing, isn't it???
I wanted to go say hi (and do some other stuff that due to the fact that this is a public blog i can't tell) soooooooo bad!! But one of the girls that was sitting with me and had met him before told me to wait because they know that we are there waiting and they don't like to be approached. they will come and say hi eventually (She was the only grownup in the table. and she was right btw)..
Then.. out of no where 3 girls arrived and went straight to the guys table (hey!!!! stand in line!!!!!! we were there first!!) The girls where very very friendly with the guys, actually one of them was all over JK, and they where all laughing and having fun. It looked like either the girls knew them from before or that the guys really liked them or that THE HELL WITH NO APPROACHING!!
I figured the guys will be nice, talk to them (the one that was all over JK was sooooo wasted) and then come say hi or something... MAN!! WAS I WRONG!! It kept going on like that for like an hour. Well, I figured that if we were sitting in a bar we might as well drink some more so the four so us had a tequila ( Why didn't the bartender ask for my ID??? i was like 12 by then !!!).
I'm pausing the story to explain some things:I am a tequila lover, I love tequila shots, I can have 10 of them before getting really drunk. And I NEVER EVER in my entire life made eye contact in a bar with a man, I don't even know how you do it. Normally if a man looks at me I turn my head around coz i don't know how to deal with that. And I would never ever,not ever after 10000 tequilas actually go to man in a bar or in the street and say something.
Now that you all know my deepest secrets let's go back to the story.. So the guys where having fun with the girls and we were sitting there. I was just giving Jordan the eye, just staring at him with that "I want you" look that most girls know how to pull. He saw me and nodded. (Jordan: which part of I WANT YOU wasn't clear enough for you?!?!?!).
The bar was about to close, it was late and I was so frustrated and so .. well.. hmm... what tequila doesn't do for me- beer does. So I don't know how and I don't even remember what was going trough my little blockheaded mind but I STOOD UP AND WALKED TOWARDS JORDAN!!! He was still with that girl all over him and I just stood behind him and said something about the fact that I have been trying all night to stop myself from bothering him but I couldn't so "hi". He looked at me but kept talking to the girl and I said with the stupidest smile I have (and god knows I'm good with stupid things) "are you avoiding me?"( why, oh why didn't god take me just there!?!?!?.. WTF was I thinking!??!!? OHHH I WASN'T THINKING!!!!) He said "No!you are sitting on that table, right?" I said yes and he said "so can I come over in like 10 minutes to say hi?" then I had a moment of clarity and I said something like "sure, sorry, sorry"and left as fast as I could.
I don't think I have enough words to explain how dumb I felt, it was like all of the sudden 30 year old me realized 12 year old me has taken over me.. Srsly, you know those moments in your life when you hope the ground will open and take you?? that's how I felt. As far as I was concerned I ruined my Jordan time. For months I have been preparing for that moment, I told myself to be cool, normal, to wait for him to not push it and then BOOM I do everything wrong. Anyways I was ready to make it a Greek tragedy and kill myself (in Amsterdam if you want to kill yourself btw, all you have to do is stand on the street and some bike rider will do the dirty part of the job for you).
After 5 minutes Joe and the band left but Jordan started to do the "hi"round. He came to our table last.I think that he did that coz he wanted to give us more time (wishful thinking that is) anyways he came to our table and everyone raised and hugged him and I was so embarrassed about before that I didn't. I just shook his hand and for some reason he looked at my ring (now that I rethink it...I'm not sure it was the ring,, it was kindda on my girls direction if you know what I mean). I know we talked for a few seconds but I can't remember what did I say or what he said. I was just embarrassed and amazed by the fact that I TOUCHED JORDAN KNIGHT!!.
Then I gave him the flash memory with all the captions (you can see some here in the blog) and the "Odes to Shirtless Jordan" (soon to be posted here) He looked at it and asked "what's this" (and looked interested)I said "you have to open it to know", he said "oh it is like a video"and I said " no, it's better". He kept holding it (he held it like a cigarette between his fingers) and he left the bar, I know he took it with him to his room coz it was in his hand while he left but I don't know if he ever plugged it to his computer..... another NKOTB mystery.
So, the time was like 1:40 am and I was really wishing I could rewind all that night and delete some stupid parts out.....
We figured now it was time to leave, so we went to the lobby and on our way there we crossed Donnie coming back from the so called pharmacy. There were like 20 girls around him and he said "I'm going to my room and I'll come back"(liar liar pants on fire) but he wasn't, which I completely get, you had to see those girls!! I was mature compared to them!!!!!!!
So we stood at the lobby, we meet Chris the drummer who's a really cool dude and at 2:00 am, just before we turned into frozen pumpkins we left.
And just to show you all that god is fair: While we were leaving the hotel we saw Tinny telling one of the 3 girls that were with JK and Joe to take her friend (the one that was all over JK) home and to breath some fresh air coz she was so wasted..*evil grin*
I couldn't sleep that night, I was so frustrated about my behavior and so exited about the concert I really didn't sleep (so much for looking good for the M&G)..
So there I was, making a dream into a nightmare (am I drama queen or what???)
What I didn't know back then is that things would turn out just fine the day after that...I didn't know back then that the following day was going to be one of the best days of my life...

So... Jordan - "I'm so hot people call me sun"- Knight and Joe - "I look much much better in person" McIntyre walked to the bar... At first I didn't realize that, I was still shocked about the fact that Jon touched me.. but then I saw them and Oh My Freaking God!!! Jordan was wearing his red sweatshirt (the one he's wearing during the Paris blog) black t- shirt, black pants (aka: JORDAN PLEASE LET ME DO YOUR LAUNDRY).. and well.... basically he was looking like he just jumped from heaven to say hi, the man in real life is incredible beautiful. It isn't just a matter of hotness (which he is incredibly great at) it's just beauty.. no make up.. no shaving and looked so good I think it was burning in my eyes. Well,, Joe was there too but DID I MENTION HOW GOOD JORDAN LOOKS? (bty, Jordan is taller and Joe is shorter than I imagined).
Anyways... we are sitting at the table just having our drinks when god's gift to women and Joe enter the bar. A few girls go to say hi and I don't know why but so did we (dumb dumb me.. what happened to "their private time?", 14 year old me was there again!!!) His Holly Hotness was talking to someone so I said hi to Joe and used my "I came from Israel blah blah line) he says "oh that's great and puts his arm around my shoulder.. (Joe: just so you know.. that line deserves a hug.. ask Jon.. he will explain that to you)I didn't get to say hi to Jordan that time. Now srsly, I'm trying to think what the hell made me go to Joe first??? what's wrong with me!??!!? Am i bad Jordan lover??.
So we go back to our seats and the guys go to the back of the bar (2 tables away from us) and sit with a few friends that then turned out to be band members. At that point the little brains I had left switched off and all that was left inside my body was the 15 year old blockhead that once I used to be. I was so amazed by the fact that I was actually breathing the same air as Jordan and about the fact that he was so "normal" that I wasn't thinking (and who needs to think when Jordan is around? all you need to do is look and take a mental shot of the moment)..
There we are. sitting in the same bar as the guys, just like if they were regular ppl and we were.. well... 30 year old women and not 15 year old girls.
And then it happened: I HAD AN IDEA. Normally when I have an idea, people that know me know they must ignore it.. but the girls that where with me didn't know me that well so they actually listened. I said :"Ohhh let's send the guys some drinks with a note- put it on my tab" (why oh why didn't anyone shoot me there????). The girls agreed with me (what's wrong with you girls!?!?!?!?) so I wet over to the bar tender (whom i officially crowned as a saint and told him that every 2 minutes) Asked for a paper and a pen and wrote "put it on my tab. and have a good night " I added a smiley and the bar tender went to they're table to see what they wanted to drink.
Joe saw my note ,laughed and looked around to see who sent it, we all waved and he nodded. (once again I told the bar tender he is a saint). Joe ordered what looked like tea and Jordan ordered a Shirley Temple (how innocent is that??I felt kinda dirty having all those thoughts about someone that drinks that.. but don't worry I got over it). So we were sitting there, I guess we were even having a conversation but all I know is that I was inhaling air that maybe Jordan exhaled.. hey!!!! that's like kissing, isn't it???
I wanted to go say hi (and do some other stuff that due to the fact that this is a public blog i can't tell) soooooooo bad!! But one of the girls that was sitting with me and had met him before told me to wait because they know that we are there waiting and they don't like to be approached. they will come and say hi eventually (She was the only grownup in the table. and she was right btw)..
Then.. out of no where 3 girls arrived and went straight to the guys table (hey!!!! stand in line!!!!!! we were there first!!) The girls where very very friendly with the guys, actually one of them was all over JK, and they where all laughing and having fun. It looked like either the girls knew them from before or that the guys really liked them or that THE HELL WITH NO APPROACHING!!
I figured the guys will be nice, talk to them (the one that was all over JK was sooooo wasted) and then come say hi or something... MAN!! WAS I WRONG!! It kept going on like that for like an hour. Well, I figured that if we were sitting in a bar we might as well drink some more so the four so us had a tequila ( Why didn't the bartender ask for my ID??? i was like 12 by then !!!).
I'm pausing the story to explain some things:I am a tequila lover, I love tequila shots, I can have 10 of them before getting really drunk. And I NEVER EVER in my entire life made eye contact in a bar with a man, I don't even know how you do it. Normally if a man looks at me I turn my head around coz i don't know how to deal with that. And I would never ever,not ever after 10000 tequilas actually go to man in a bar or in the street and say something.

What is it about NKOTB (aka: We love the GREATEST F@#*ING GUYS EVER!!!!!!)
For years I've been trying to figure out what is it about NKOTB that makes us not only like they're music but also to have that special bond to them. Back then people thought it was the looks, you know? 5 great looking guys (and one of them is Jordan - hot its too cold compared to me- Knight)ad a bunch of teenage lovers. But they were wrong, i think it goes beyond the looks (don;t get me wrong, i DO like the looks....)
Anyways today i read something a fellow blockhead wrote and i liked it, so here you have it,

For the record, I neither hate nor love Britney. She's decent pop music. Not sure I'd be her friend in real life LOL .. But alas, my opinion is as follows:
So I'll admit it: I You Tubed Britney's opening performance in St. Louis last night because I was really curious ...
I found a couple clips of Circus and Womanizer. It's interesting to compare. All the reviewers will probably say this was a phenomenal show, Britney is back, etc etc...
What I saw on You Tube was this: Lots and LOTS of stage antics. Circus performers. Flashing lights and colors. Twirling dancers above the stage.
What I didn't see was this: A lot of interaction between Britney and an audience of, what, 40,000?
Our boys BRING IT to the stage - Sure they have some theatrics and fog. But forget the crazy hoopla- it's THEM and US. And it totally shows. They talk to us, make us laugh, conversate with us, have pose offs for goodness sakes.
Sad that what separates them from a lot of other artists (an overwhelming sense of connection to the audience and LESS stage 'extras') is what makes a lot of people say "that concert was a waste."
I give our boys three huge cheers (okay, fine, FIVE) for knowing what it means to be on stage with an audience - they show us appreciation. Not spend millions on lighting and trapezes.
And i say: how many performers do you know that are capable of stopping a mini concert aired om a major TV network, in one of the biggest TV shows just to sing Happy Birthday to a fan? and to change the words just to fit the occasion?? How many performers do you know that will bring a Twix on stage just coz it was a fans present and coz they know fans want to see it? I know only 5: Jordan (marry me!!) Jon( I'll take you too!!) Donnie (handcuff me already!!), Joe (shave bro, shave) ad Danny (talking about well built)

There is NOTHING and when i say NOTHING i mean NOTHING that will ever make me wake up at 7:00 am. Nothing!!! I don't take classes before 10:00 am, I even quit a job coz i had to wake up at 6:45 for it. Hey!! If Keanu Reeves knocks on my door before 8:00 am he will get his ass kicked!!. But today at freaking 7:00 in the freaking morning (Jerusalem time) i woke up to watch Jimmy Kimmel on line (thanx Petra for the link). That's it!! the last drop of normality i had left in my body has dried and now i am officially stupid. But man, stupidity never felt so good!!
Let me start with the fact that I like Jimmy, i mean, anyone that is able to actually like Sara Silbermann is my kind of guy (The woman is my hero). But besides that, the show was great. The rose ceremony was funny (Jordan!!! pick Jordan you dumb Italian!!), and then the concert was so much fun!! We even got to see some of our fellow blockheads waving.
They performed 5 songs for the audience (only two were aired):

step by step/right stuff medley (aired)
dirty dancing
joe sings happy birthday to some lucky girl

How i met our New Kids on the Block (aka: I'm not stalking, just following) PART II
So where were we?
Oh, right.. Magic just happened!!
So we were dragging our frozen asses (and other body parts that I rather not mention) to another hotel... when we saw 2 men walking towards us.
Now it is time to stop the story and explain: The 4 of us said that if we ever met the guys we are NOT going to act like dumb teenagers ( I'm not saying that all teenagers are dumb..). We are NOT going to scream and we are NOT going to stalk them on the streets on their personal time. You know? we know they have a right to privacy and a right to have a life without us getting in the way. So the strategy was : we see them, we nod, they know we know who they are, if they want they stop and say hi and if they don't we keep on walking (and kill ourselves after that). After all we are grownups!! Now with all that said let's go back to the story.
We were not talking (your tongue might froze if you talk too much in Amsterdam) and we see two men walking towards us, one is a big guy and the other... well.. not so big.. it took each of us like 2 seconds to realize those were Donnie and Tinny. Without even saying a word to each other we just turned around and followed them for like 2 secs. (dumb dumb Blockheads *bangs head on wall*) They stopped and Tinny goes like "is there a problem?" One of the girls goes to Donnie and I believe she said something to him, then Donnie said : "I'm on my way to the pharmacy, can i meet you later at the hotel?" and the four of us together " YEAH!! WHAT HOTEL?" And the guy just gave us the name of the hotel as if it was obvious that we should have known that (thank you Donnie! thank you!!! I Love you Donnie!! Officer Wahlberg please handcuff me and take me to the so called pharmacy with you!!!)
Ok, we have been walking around that hotel for hours, we have been sitting literally in front of it for hours and we need Mr.Donnie- I'll French you if you let me- Wahlberg to tell us where are they staying??? What happened to the days where the fans had to work hard to find the guys? ah!??!!? what happened to the days where they used to hide and finding them was fun? Thank you Donnie for ruining all the fun and just giving us the name ( you can handcuff me now)
So, after realizing that we just became teenagers again and that the little part of our brains that doesn't have "Dirty dancing" on repeat just died, we decided to go to the hotel.. once again, not to stalk, after all we are Big girls now (sorry, had to put that one here) but to.... hmm.... what the f^%ck are we going to do there? Ohhh I know, we are going to see Danny sitting by the window at the bar of the hotel so we will wave and he will wave back.. and well.. since he waved we figured we are buddys now so we can go and have a drink (not with him because he was with someone) at the bar, right?!?!?
And so we did, we had a drink, and then another one and then I heard that Jon (my pure first love... I still can't understand why he never came to Israel to marry me when I was 14 and he was 24..) was standing outside having a smoke. So I decided that I'm going to say hi but this time I'll act like a 30 year old and not like a 15 year old.. (BTW, besides NKOTB I'm soooooo not the person that would walk to a stranger and start talking, so not like me). Jon was walking to the lobby (nice north face jacket, silly wool hat and a great smell)so I approached him and said " Hi, I just came from Israel to say hi so -HI" he shook my hand and then said : "woooww all the way from Israel? you deserve a hug!" and he hugged me and actually looked really happy to see me.(See Jon? we were supposed to get married back then!!) Then I told him " say hi to your bro for me" he said he will (and I went like : wtf!?!? did I just waste my Jon time to ask him to say hi to Jordan!?!??!!?) So I said something like, "well if we are talking brothers can I have a hug for my sister" and he gave me a great hug!!(watch it Jon!! my sister is only 18, I'm the real thing!!) I said Good night, he said god night and we went separated ways (he he.. had to put that one too).
I took my shaky ass back to the bar and I thought I was the happiest woman alive and that things will never be better for me.. I just hugged Jon Knight and no one or anything will ever take that away from me!! It was so easy, and it went so well, and I behaved and acted like my actual me and not like my 14 year old me (shhhh.. don't remind me about the "say hi to your bro part, OK??)
Definitely- things couldn't get any better than that... hmmmmm.. well they actually could and they did!! 5 minutes after Jon and I shared a moment (shhh we did have a moment!) Joe and Jordan (so hot I almost fainted) entered the bar......

Oh, right.. Magic just happened!!
So we were dragging our frozen asses (and other body parts that I rather not mention) to another hotel... when we saw 2 men walking towards us.
Now it is time to stop the story and explain: The 4 of us said that if we ever met the guys we are NOT going to act like dumb teenagers ( I'm not saying that all teenagers are dumb..). We are NOT going to scream and we are NOT going to stalk them on the streets on their personal time. You know? we know they have a right to privacy and a right to have a life without us getting in the way. So the strategy was : we see them, we nod, they know we know who they are, if they want they stop and say hi and if they don't we keep on walking (and kill ourselves after that). After all we are grownups!! Now with all that said let's go back to the story.
We were not talking (your tongue might froze if you talk too much in Amsterdam) and we see two men walking towards us, one is a big guy and the other... well.. not so big.. it took each of us like 2 seconds to realize those were Donnie and Tinny. Without even saying a word to each other we just turned around and followed them for like 2 secs. (dumb dumb Blockheads *bangs head on wall*) They stopped and Tinny goes like "is there a problem?" One of the girls goes to Donnie and I believe she said something to him, then Donnie said : "I'm on my way to the pharmacy, can i meet you later at the hotel?" and the four of us together " YEAH!! WHAT HOTEL?" And the guy just gave us the name of the hotel as if it was obvious that we should have known that (thank you Donnie! thank you!!! I Love you Donnie!! Officer Wahlberg please handcuff me and take me to the so called pharmacy with you!!!)
Ok, we have been walking around that hotel for hours, we have been sitting literally in front of it for hours and we need Mr.Donnie- I'll French you if you let me- Wahlberg to tell us where are they staying??? What happened to the days where the fans had to work hard to find the guys? ah!??!!? what happened to the days where they used to hide and finding them was fun? Thank you Donnie for ruining all the fun and just giving us the name ( you can handcuff me now)
So, after realizing that we just became teenagers again and that the little part of our brains that doesn't have "Dirty dancing" on repeat just died, we decided to go to the hotel.. once again, not to stalk, after all we are Big girls now (sorry, had to put that one here) but to.... hmm.... what the f^%ck are we going to do there? Ohhh I know, we are going to see Danny sitting by the window at the bar of the hotel so we will wave and he will wave back.. and well.. since he waved we figured we are buddys now so we can go and have a drink (not with him because he was with someone) at the bar, right?!?!?

How i met our New Kids on the Block (aka: I'm not stalking, just following) PART I
As i promised a few of you, I have to share my stalking...hmmm... sorry- following story.
For some reason i didn't find the time to do it here before, I don't think it's a matter of time tough, I think I just know that once it's out there is out of my hands and I can't tell it again (and again and again) so I was trying to hold on to it but here you have it: My own private story.
I got to Amsterdam on Jan 30 and the concert was on Feb 3rd. The plan was: Friday- Sunday: tourism. Monday morning: shopping, Monday night: meeting blockehads. Tuesday: Stalk.. hmm.. following and concert. So much for plans...
Friday started as planed, just did what people do in Amsterdam, you know. museums, coffee (haven't they heard about milk?? and sweetener!?!??! for crying out loud!!!) and well.. you know, all the other Amsterdam LEGAL activities. Everything was going well, Ii managed to be a tourist and have some real fun (and buy 2 coats).
Friday and Saturday were cold as hell but it didn't stop me from having some Amsterdam fun and from searching for NKOTB concert signs (3 in the whole city) I was happy , it looked like my NKOTB addiction didn't take over me and I was actually able to enjoy the city.
Sunday morning we decide to visit Heineken experience (Tip: if you have no change the tram driver will let you in for free). We had a couple of beers and I get a text msg: "The guys are landing in Amsterdam in like 2 hours". And that was the end of my normality.... I left the place and was making my way to the airport coz hell!! I was gonna meet the guys and nothing or anyone was going to stop me....
Well.. something stopped me: I had no freaking change so I had to go stand in line to buy a train ticket when I realized it was a while ago that I got the msg and they are probably in town by now.
But i was unstoppable (some Ritalin would have helped...) anyways, after consulting some local blockheads we figured there are a few hotels they can be at. So I picked one of them and just waited patiently.. well.. actually it wasn't that I waited patiently but I just froze and was unable to move my legs and run for my life..Another foreign blockhead joined me and after 3 hours we kindda understood we were in the wrong place, but NOTHING was going to stop us!! After realizing that if we start moving we will be able to save some organs from freezing we decided to go to another hotel, hey, whats better than a 25 minutes walk when the temperature outside is like -9 degrees? ( 15.8 Fahrenheit). OH!!!I KNOW WHAT'S BETTER!! finally finding a Concert sign and taking a picture with it ( how can you know my brain froze? coz i didn't steal the sign!!) .
To make a loooooooooong story short: they where not in that hotel either .So the situation was: I came from Israel, ruined a whole touristic day, froze to death and didn't find the boys. I was so frustrated!! knowing they where in the same little town as I was and not knowing where. Thank god that night I meet another blockhead and we had some fun so I was able to forget the frustration for like 2 hours.
Monday morning: I decide (again) that I'm going to behave like a 30 year old woman and go do some shopping and have some fun.. hmm..... plans changed when I got a msg from someone saying "Jon was spotted by the "Hard Rock Cafe". So I sent the info to our NKOTB C.I.A and we figured the area of the hotel they will be probably staying at.. but hey, there are like 8 freaking Hotels there.
Now let me tell you, when I say C.I.A. I mean : someone on the net, maps and phones, me searching the streets, someone else searching a different part of the city and a few more looking at hotels.. Let me tell you, if we lived 65 years ago, Hitler wouldn't have survived more than 5 minutes hiding)
4:00 PM, another blockhead and me walk for like an hour around the area where we think they are and NOTHING! 8:00 PM finally!!! the blockhead meeting. A few of us decided previously to meet that night to have a drink and some fun, so we did meet at the bar and indeed had some fun. I recall a brave blockhead making the barman play SINGLE..
At around 10:00 pm, my friend and I decide to go home, but on our way home we decide to check 2 more hotels.. on our way we met 2 other blockheads that where doing as we were ... we were disappointed and tired (and COLD, did I mention FREAKING COLD??!). Anyways we are walking just 100 meters (in front actually) from were we've been sitting all night long and then.... MAGIC HAPPENS

Operation "2 in the morning"- Update
It's amazing how many people are working on this. The facebook event (called "operation 2 in the morning") is having new people joining every day!!
I know some people that are actually watching and voting several times per hour and that great.
BUT
If we want them to be number one we need to keep on doing that. They have dropped to #7 popular video (they where #1) and to #7 popular artist on VH1.
They are still not in the top itunes videos/music.
have you seen Jordan puppy eyes??? do you want to disappoint that!?!??!?!!?!?
