Changes.. Changes.. Changes...

Is this the end of the world as we know it? Is the world coming to an end? Is Iran about to scare the crap out of us with a bomb? Did Danny Wood stop going to the gym? Is Donnie Wahlberg wearing his jeans ON his waist line?

Ok, so as much as I hope the answer to all questions above is "FREAKIN' NO", I do know that some things have changed lately in the happy world of Blockheads.. So here are my 40/80 dollars...hmmmm I mean- 2 cents- about all the new happenings.

As we all know the tour with BSB was announced and just when we were actually starting to get used to that.. BOOM.. the nkotb site, the place we all love to bitch about but can't live without now is not free anymore. We had some time to adjust to the NKOTBSB thingy since the rumor has been out there for like a month, some of us love the idea, some don't care and some hate it.. But we all accepted it, but the membership for the fan club was a complete surprise to all.

You know us, we are crazy old women (or groupies or whatever Ryan Seacrest likes to call us) we like our routines, we don't adjust too well to changes. At our age, when the weather changes drastically - we feel it in our joints. When Nkotb.com changes drastically- we bitch. Yup.Just like that.. We bitch.. and only after that we think.

For the record: I love NKOTB, always have, always will. I don't care who they go on stage with, what they sell or if Joe's skinny jeans are too skinny. I love the guys and I consider myself one hell of a dedicated fan but they don't force me to buy anything, from a cruise ticket (2nd time flying in from Israel- BUSTED) to a fan-club membership.

I would be lying if I said I'm happy about the joint concerts or the membership thing. I'm not.. but it's MY decision to make as a grownup on what to spend my money. Last time I checked Ddub wasn't standing behind me (*sigh*) with his gun (*big sigh*) & making me buy a show ticket or a membership to the fantastic world of the dedicated fans. Nope, I'm the one that decided not to spend my money on any of those- therefore.. if I have to be mad at someone.. It'll be at myself coz I made the call.

Sometimes, between all the LOVE tweets (which btw, I believe are true) and the attention we get and the fantasies we have in our minds, we forget that for NKOTB this whole thing is a business. I don't mean it in a bad way... just in a LET'S FUCKING GROW UP way.

The way I see it: I love each and every one of my students very much, I care for them, I want them to succeed, to be happy and I try my best to give them what they deserve.. but would I be doing it if I didn't get paid at the end of the month? the answer is HELL NO! Do I think NKOTB love us, care for us and want us to be happy? YES. Would they be doing it for free? HELL NO!!

This thing is also a business and they have to make business decisions. They are not FORCING us to agree with them but they don't owe us anything so we can be mad. frustrated and even a bit disappointed about things that are going on lately but we can't start bitching like freakin 12 year olds. WE decide what to spend our money on, not NKOTB. They offer a product, we can choose to buy it or not.

I, for example, won't be buying a ticket to see NKOTB and BSB. MY decision is not to pay a flying ticket + hotel+concert tickets +shopping money (coz you are out of your mind if you think I'll fly to the US of A & won't buy clothes I don't need) to see anything less than a FULL ONLY NKOTB concert (preferably with shirtless BIBIY & some DDub pant dropping)... So NKOTB offered me a product I don't like & I won't buy it... just like I don't like everything my mom cooks.. but I love her.

I won't be buying a membership either. I don't need it to feel like a "dedicated" or "loyal" fan. Sure I enjoyed using the site and the forums (although sometimes those can be a scawwwwy place) but I don't NEED them. I guess if I needed them then I would be paying whatever they ask. Once again.. just a product I won't be buying.

I choose to save all that money and use it when NKOTB have a SOLO tour (yes I say WHEN & not IF) or to buy all sorts of NKOTB merch I don't really need but I WANT.

So dear BH sistahs: each of us if responsible for her own acts, we decide what to buy and what not to get, we decide how to spend our money and not NKOTB. So when we bitch about the changes made lately, we should remember the changes are just an offer.. not a mitzvah (the Jewish term for a divine command) ..

Now if you don't mind..I gotta go do something about my knees.. with these weather changes- they are killing me!!!

Things that can only happen in NK-land

This is a list of things that have happened to me or to people around me during my trip to NK-land.. If you have any to add, please feel free to add them as comments :-)

1- You attend a show & then out of no-where the girl standing before you recognizes your face from Twitter& you realize you two have been following each other

2- The language we all communicate in is English but it has so many different accents that it sounds more like Esperanto

3- If you see a huge scary man walking in front of you at night but you hear he has a Boston accent, you stare at him with a "I'm inlove"look instead of running for your life

4- Marhsmallows, Twixes, Bananas and Tractors are never ever just fruits or objects. They have a Life of their own

5- You start the night walking in Dorchester just to see where the guys used to hang out and you end up talking with guys from the Funky Bunch

6- An Indonesian gets a ticket for a concert in USA for someone from Israel

7- Every time you see someone waving their hands you go "ohhh ohhh ohhh hanging tough"

8- You think baseball is probably the most boring sport of them all but you are a huge "Red-sox"fan

9-You tell the guy at the counter at the airport (the one that is trying to charge you 150$ overweight) that if he didn't have such a cute Bostonian accent.. you would really tell him what you think about his flying company policy

10-You are willing to burn your skin and get Skin cancer but DAMMMNN you are gonna take that picture with Donnie!

11- You walk by the Fillmore at 2 am the night before the concert & are really disappointed that no one is standing in-line

12- You can't walk more than 10 meters in Boston without having a NK reminder

13- A male friend of yours who has no clue who the New Kids are , calls you just to let you know that they mentioned Donnie and Mark Wahlberg during a Celtics game

14- Riding one car: two Denish girls, One Indonesian, One Israel and One American.. & all have the same passions

15- You see a girl eating ketchup on her eggs and you think that is completely reasonable

16- You truly believe that if you had to choose between death in awful pain and the batteries of your camera dying during a concert- you rather die for sure

17- You ride an elevator with a girl you recognize from twitter but since you have no clue what her REAL name is, you don't even say hi

18- You are seriously thinking about taking a second job and calling it "NK's fund"

19- Every time you see a Starbucks you have a reflex to go in and get coffee.. (even if you are already holding one)

20- Meeting people you have never met before and feeling like they are good old friends

21- Asking people you never met to please keep your turn in line while you go do some stuff and knowing that they will actually do it for you

22- Actually considering staying two hours at the airport with all your bags coz you know Jon and Jordan are landing in two hours

23- Not doing it and feeling guilty

24- Paying 395$ for standing in a long line, saying hi to the guys for 2 minutes and getting crappy seats and still feel like you've done the best deal of your life

25- Start the night alone and end it with 10 girls from all over the world ( not in a kinky way you dirty minded people!!)

26- Sit with a friend in your room at the hotel and tweet each other coz that's the way you two are used to communicate with each other

27- otah, tractah, Bawwston, tah

28- You gave up ages ago on trying to make people that don't get it to get it...you know they will forever be lost in the valley of ignorance

29- You can't remember who sang "we will rock you"or "sweet dreams"but you sure think that the NK's versions of them are way better than the original

30- When you hear Maxwells "This womans work"you have a suspicious grin on your face

31- You might be going crazy but you are starting to think that Cholo socks are kindda cool

32- No matter where you are in the world, you ALWAYS knwo what's the time in Boston and L.A.

33- You are 31 and you just bought jelly bracelets. And yes.. you think that is completely normal

34- You spent 5K$ on a two weeks trip and you are completely sure that that was the best way to spend that money

35- You will do it all over again, as soon as you get the chance ( or the money)

** This blog is being published 3 days after I wrote it because I wanted Ddub to be the 1st one to be able to read it, so I printed it and gave it to him (well, gave is not the exact term that describes stucking it into his jacket at a m&g while security were not looking). I hope he had or will have a chance to read it.

**I'd also like to dedicate this blog to all those who shared these amazing two weeks with me. Here it hoes to my BH sistahs!!

Now to the actual blog

For months I have been trying to really understand what it is that makes us BH so special and what is it that makes our bond with the guys so significant. A few nights ago, at a boat in the middle of the ocean I got the answer from Mr Donnie Freakin Wahlberg. The answer is L.O.V.E. The answer is Family.

Before getting on the cruise lots of questions went through my mind: Will I see enough of the guys? Is it smart to spend all this money just like that? Will I get enough face-time? Will I be able to actually talk to the guys? To take pictures?.... Funny, but the more I think about it - the more I realize that those where not the real questions that I had in mind.

This journey has never been about facetime ( don’t get me wrong, I still want my Knight sandwich with marshmallow on top) or about taking pictures with the guys. This journey has always been about making dreams come true, about love and about friendship. I don’t know how many people get to experience the amazing feeling of being a part of such a big and special family as Blockheads. Sure, every group has it’s groupies but I don’t think every group has a family and I don’t think every group of fans has people as amazing as the New Kids to bring them all together.

For me , being on the cruise, going to the concerts and spending this 2 weeks in the USA has always been about the friendship. I finally met so many faces and so many people that I was sharing my life and passions with via a computer. I got to meet friends from all over the world that felt the same way as I did and could understand me without even trying hard. Just imagine, an after party where an Israeli, an Indonesian and two Danish girls dance together to the sound of “full service” Yes, for me the most exciting part (well, maybe shirtless Ddub was a bit more exciting) about all this was the very moment when we were all dancing on the Lido deck and you could just feel the love. You could really feel that the 2000 people that were rocking that boat had enough Love to make a 20 years old and long distance relationship work.

Since the very first moment I realized the kids where back together all I felt from Bh’s was pure love and real friendship. Is like the comeback didn’t just bring the guys back to us but also gave us back that feeling that only a 13 year old girl can feel towards her friends. I’ve heard so many stories about Bh’s helping each other to make their dreams come true. Bh’s willing to give a spot on the boat to others that have never met the guys before. Girls buying concert tickets for others, girls supporting each other while trying to lose weight. Bh’s taking a step back so other Bh’s could step in for a photo. Pure sisterhood. And that is what makes this journey so special, the little and big moments we share with our fellow blockheads and the little and big moments we share with the New Kids.

I’m not talking about the screaming and the facetime and the pictures. Those are not the significant moments, sure, they are fun moments and I wouldn’t change them for anything in this world but those are not the moments that define us as family. The significant moments are an encounter with Jon by the pool when he comes to talk to his Jongirls, a smile from Donnie when he passes by you and he knows you are waiting for it, a speech on the Lido deck, a spontaneous hug on a m&g. The little things that remind us that the New kids are not more but not less than Human & the Bh moments are the ones that make all this journey worthy.

So, tomorrow is my last concert (well, until I get rich enough to travel again from Israel) and it feels bitter-sweet. It’s bitter because it feels like being separated from people I love , because I have been having a great time and because this journey is not supposed to end. But it’s also sweet because I got to meet so many people I call friends, because I got to experience so many different feelings and so much love around me that I feel like it doesn’t matter if I am here or back in Israel- this is never going to end.

So tomorrow night, when the lights turn off, and the last note of Hanging tough is being played, I will probably have tears in my eyes, tears of joy – the joy of knowing that I am a part of something that is bigger than me- I’m not just Yael. I’m Yael the Blockhead and that will never change. It’s part of me just like my name, just like the things I do and the things I love. Being a blockhead is more than just loving 5 great (and freakin’ hot) guys. Being a blockhead is knowing that I always have five brothers and a million sisters spread all over the world .

Was this trip worthy? Was it smart to spend all that money? The answer is YES. Because money can’t buy memories, money can’t buy family and money can’t buy that great feeling that I have in my heart right now. So to all of those asking me if I went crazy the answer is NO! The answer is that I know I did the right thing because in 90 years, when I take my last breath, the things that I will take with me to god-knows-where are all those faces I’ve met this week, the smile I had during Donnies speech on the deck, the fun we had tonight at the after party. What I will be taking with me is not the money I’ve earned but the friends I”ve made and the experiences we shared.

So Donnie, Jon,Jordan,Joe , Danny and my Bh sistahs: Thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for making this journey one I will nevah forget. See you soon!!!

I was on tah mottah fuckah boat - part I

I still can't believe that after all the preparations and all the waiting and the countdowns and all- well it's all over now. But boy- what a journey this has been!!

So let's go back to the beginning- the embarkation day- a huge room packed with BH recognizing each other from twitter and waiting inline. Now srsrly, dear Carnival people: we are embarking a freakin boat with NKOTB, what about playing some NKOTB music while we wait , instead of that horrible so called latino elevator music you were playing!?! Anyways, we got the orange wrist band (the one that marks you as the poor girls on the block that could hardly pay for the trip) and we were good to go.

Once we got into the boat it took us quite a long time to find our cabin since the boat is HUGE. The good thing: our cabin was bigger than I expected.... the bad thing: it was really far from everything.

And then there was the sail away party!!!! The Lido deck was packed with all of us dancing and singing and drinking, lots of fun!!! The guys decided to go up to the stage passing some of the girls, which was a great thing. Seriously, I think they tried their best to give as many people as much facetime as possible, I can't remember anyone telling me that they wanted facetime and where refused. Well once the party begun - we knew this was going to be a weekend to remember. the guys looked so happy and so comfortable on stage, and all of us did too. Well.. kind of comfortable cos Kathy and me were caring a huge cupcake that needed to be handed to JK as a b-day present from all his girls worldwide. So we made a sign and took the damn thing with us to the party. Jon saw it and he actually asked us to give it to him, so we did .. he left it somewhere and came back to say it's ok. Thats the part where Kathy &me where at the top of the world. Not only we got on the boat, not only we got to deliver our present but also Jon, the love of my 13 year old self, saw it and helped us.

Once the party was over we realized the cupcake was left on stage, from this time on.. it will become "our thing" After all we had a responsibility to all our worldwide friends to deliver it . Ok... back to the story.. Donnie (btw, I'm a 100% Donverted woman) walked around people and took pics, shook hands, gave kisses. I know thats probably the businessman in him but he really wanted to get to as many people as possible and he took the time to at least say a few words to each. When it was my turn he took my cam to take a picture of us but the freakin thing went out of batteries. So I told him we will have to do it later and the cutest guy ever said " no, let me work it out" and he actually made it work and took a picture. Yes, thats how I knew he is god- he has powers to fix things...

For me that was it.. I felt like a really lucky lady, less than 2 hrs. on tah boat and already got what I wanted!!!!

Since we were in group B- our game show went first. .Donnie baptized the game as " kind of like jeopardy" coz he was complaining that we didn't get the rules right.. so funny!!!The show wasn't half as interesting and the stupid things the guys did during it to make us laugh.. they were all over the place being funny and cynical and giving us a great time.

The ga,e included some crowd hunt- which means the guys ere going in the crowd to find items (yup, they looked at ppls bras to find a pink leopard bra), some video trivia (Dear Jared: if you put Never Let You Go on screen, please don't expect anyone to be able to concentrate on your questions).

Game was over, then it was time for dinner, we decided to have it in the formal- too fancy for a BH dinning room..

At night it was Casino Royale night and the guys were all wearing TUX. Phewww as if it wasn't haawt enough on that boat they had to go wearing that!!! They seemed very cool, relaxed and having fun. they even tried to walk around the crowd for a bit but most time they spend doing a sort of show and spending time at the VIP area. We had the cupcake with us and a sign saying "we have your cupcake- again" Jon saw it and said that he took it and we told him that it was left on the stage so he did a cute face and so did we. I even think he tried to get his kid bro to see it/ Later that night he actually saw i6t and made a sign with his hands that can mean 2 things "later" or "tomorrow" although I think it can say "fuck you" as well... lol

Of course we danced to all the songs while the guys where goofing around having fun and trying they're best to give us a great time..

We had a great time during the whole experience, if you ask me- meeting all my twitter friends from all over the globe was as exciting as meeting the guys. Really, so many faces that became familiar to me but I've never met before. So many accents, so many people... It was just an amazing experience.. and yes.. there's still 2 more days to go so stay tuned for updates numbah 2 and 3

Miami, May 13th 2010- MOTTAH FUCKAH SQUEEEEEE

Ok, now that we got that out of the way- let's get this... i mean, let's start.

Let me start by saying that I really believe every woman should have a lining up experience. It's like a broken heart.. you suffer but it's something you HAVE to go through to grow up.

With that said, I feel now less pathetic to let you know that i lined up at freakin 2:30 when doors opened only at 7.

While I was lining up I got to see my Danish girls and they told me they saw the guys arriving and they even got some autographs..hmmm... thats when it all started. You know me, I'm a mature, self controled , very rational woman (YEAH RIGHT) so as soon as I felt some stalking oportunities- I had to go for it.

I told my friend that they are probably at the back so we went to stand there, behind the bars.. you know all those pics that I've seen before of BH's standing at the back of the venue waiting for some love? well this time I got to be in those pictures and it was FUN!! My really burnt skin might defer and say that it was irresponsible, uncomfortable,stupid and all those bad things but we all know that for NKOTB i will get my skin sunburn and be OK with it).

Anyway, when we were standing there little Joe came out. The reason i say little is coz the man is all bones.. SOMEONE PLEASE THROW A SANDWICH AT HIM!!! The guy is way smaller than I remembered him and he was extremely patient and nice and he took the time to smile, take pictures and sign things.. he even got his own sharpie!! So I took a picture with him and he signed my Israeli flag who's now on a mission to get 4 more signatures. That was the FIRST autograph i have ever got from anyone!!! yeah.. I finally have something autographed... not to mention that it's cool that it's a flag coz my friend had nothing with her so she had to get her shirt signed :-)

Autograph tip: Joe doesn't autograph boobs so don't even ask.( I didn't but 2 girls there did).

Anyways after we had our moment with Joe we figured we should stay there to get to see mr Wahlberg.. so we waited... and got sunburnt.. and waited.... and got sunburnt.. and waited... and met some cool blockheads.. and waited.. well you get the idea, right?

Then we decided to use the "I came from far away" card so every once in a while my friend would scream HONG KONG and i would scream ISRAEL... it kindda became a reflex... lol .. didn't help us much but it was fun.

Well.. hours went by and just when my skin started actually thinking about moving somewhere else and leaving me skinless (YUCK) we decided to go get some coffee (starbucks, like duh!!) and then we stood back in line.

7:00 sharp the doors opened and we run for our lives.... completely worth it coz we got to stand in really good spots.

I have to say that this concert experience was so much greater than the amazing concert i attended in Amsterdam.

First of all the venue was smaller and way more intimate, it was actually a theater and you could REALLY see what was going on. I also felt more comfortable, just moving around and talking to people i have never met before. Of course I got to meet some girls i knew from Twitter but never met before and I must say that was one of the coolest parts of the whole deal.

Another great thing that I felt this time is that people were actually nicer. If you wanted to leave your spot to go say hi to friends or go to the bathroom or get drinks or whatever- people standing BEHIND you actually saved it for you, people were trying all the time to not block each others views, there was no pushing.. it was just fun and simple.. I LOVED THIS CONCERT

Now to the concert itself: It felt way more simple than the big shows they held in arenas and i liked it, the dance steps were simple, the band was smaller, less fireworks and more singing. the bad thing is that there was also waaayy less talking top the crowd and it was shorter and faster.

The song choices were GREAT and even the new arrangements they did to the old songs were great. the acoustic part is to die for. Really it's a great part of the show and of course the solos are .. well... you know.... they are great. I like the slut look joe got for his solo and I can't even talk about " never let you go" without smiling for a few hours aftah. And "I got it" did i mention I got it was great!?!?!? phhewwwww what a concert.

Once the concert was done we headed back to the parking lot to see some action. On the way we realized the guys where at a window throwing things and talking to fans but we didn't stop- we were on a Ddub mission after all!!!!.

Then we saw the van arrive and Jon and Jordan got inside without even saying hi, which is more than OK. The guys were exhausted, they have a full weekend of non-sleep ahead so I think it's really Ok that they just left.And they did it pretty quietly.. it's not like they came, saw us and ignored us.. nothing like that at all, the van picked them up from the back door and they left.

Then a whole bunch of teenagers ( I think they are one of Dannys girls friends) got inside and a few stupid girls tried to get inside with them.. well HELLO!! YOU DON'T LOOK 15 WITH THAT SLUTY DRESS SO DON'T TRY!!!

Then Danny came out waving with his daughters. they waved said good night and got into his car and drove home.

We knew Ddub was still inside so there was no way in hell we were leaving. and indeed.. after like 15 minutes Ddub came to say hi. girls stood by the fence and he took the time to shake hands and take pictures.

This is when I knew it was MY moment.. the only problem is that I didn't have anything smart to say.. and I never talk anything but smart stuff... so then out of nowhere I told him "I'm the Israeli girl" so he looked at me and then did a face like if he recognized me ( I'm pretty sure he doesn't but it was nice that he tried to make me feel good) and then he said "wooahh" and high-fived me. HE high-fived ME!!!!Then he said " I love you" and I said " me too" and he asked me if I;m going on the boat, I told him that I am and he said " ok then see you tomorrow" and I said yup and he winked. At this point I think I died for a few seconds and went to heaven. The bad news is that I don't have any pictures of that moment but I have the great memory of it. By the way.. something must be happening in the NK'S world coz he looked really skinny . Thank god we will always have the Knight brothers well fed.:-)

So I actually think that if I don't get anymore facetime I can still call myself a lucky woman. I got to go to a great concert, to meet really nice people and to talk to Ddub... I can die a happy woman now.

Now it's time to pack for the mottah fuckah boat!!!!!!

Blockheads have taken over Miami

Local resindents are required to not leave their homes unless they want 20000000 screaming women in their restaurants or if they want to spend 70 hrs. taking pictures of hyper happy women.

Now let's get serious for a while:

I finally went to the beach today and of course now instead of the ugly shirt tan marks I had....now I have really ugly mixture of tank top and bathing suite marks... life in Miami is good.

Then at the evening as planed I attended the BH meeting.

The place was packed with us (and a Joe doll) it was around 60 women in a local restaurant, screaming and tweeting and calling each other by nicknames coz no one know whats each others real name. To be honest, it looked weird at fist.. so many familiar faces that I have no idea who they are.. but in a matter of minutes the weirdness was gone and I actually had a great time. It was fun to meet girls that I became good friends with but never met before. It was fun to meet more blockheads and you know... to get the party going and ready for tomorrow... So to all my BH sisters that attended the dinner party- THANX FOR A GREAT NIGHT.

And a special thank you to the poor couple that took like 300000 pictures of us.. I think they missed dinner, a movie and probably more things but they had a great time taking pictures of un-medicated crazy women :-)

I also went to see the Fillmore , which by the way, is 5 minutes from my hotel.. i was happy to see that no one was lining up tonight but sad to see that. what's wrong with us? doesn't a GA show deserve women sleeping in the streets of Miami? are we getting old!?!?

Ok.. Let's start the updates with the most important things I've discovered in this trip so far:

1- It's hard to find a sturbucks in Miami.. but if you must know... there's one very close to the Intercontinental Hotel.... hmmm.... very interesting

2- I hate humid weather

3- British MALE flying attendants are def. the hottest flying attendants I have ever seen.. Good bless the Queen!!!

4- The weather hates me ( it has been cloudy all day)

5- There's a bus that takes you from the airport to the Dolphin mall (10 mins. ride) but it takes over an hour

Now to NKOTB related stuff

Woke up really early due to mottah fuckah Jetlag, had crappy coffee (well 2 crappy coffees) and headed to Lincoln av.- thats supposed to be the place were all the cool kids hang around... I got into a store and BOOM- see what I found? (Well Jenny found it but this is MY blog so I'm gonna say I found it)

While walking in downtown Miami I spotted at least 10 potential blockheads.. you know how it is.. we are like dogs- we smell each ottah. It could have been nice to know if they were actually BH's or not

After taking the longest bus in the history of human kind- I finally got to the mall... and whats the 1st store I get to see? yup you are right- EPIC... now If thats not destiny.... I dunno what that is....

So two nkotb related thing sin 1day?- I call this day a total success!!! and what's even bettah- I just found out that the Filmore is about 10 mins walking from my hotel

Miami- get ready... blockheads are gonna have some serious fun!!!

Am I really THAT crazy?

OK OK FINE!! Now you can stop screaming "YES"to your screen!!!
Do you know those moments in life when you sit down and think if things you are doing are really what you need to be doing, if things you want are really what you NEED?
Well, I have been having some of those moments lately, and you got it right.. it's NKOTB related.
A few months ago I was happily jumping up and down because I manged to get myself on the cruise (and only god knows how). I had it all figured out, some savings I had, some money I will save during the year and I won't get into any kind of debt. I thought I HAVE to be on the cruise, the thought of sitting home while another cruise sails off terrified me, so despite of the things people around me told me, despite the fact that my friends think i have finally lost it and instead of brain now I have a picture of Ddub in my head- I DID IT.. I got a spot on the boat. I know that was the right decision to make, and I don't regret it at all. I wanted to do it- I had the money to do it- I'm gonna do it.
But then the mini tour thingy arrived....
Hmmm..... will I actually fly all the way to the USA for only one week knowing that a few days later there are going to be concerts!? Do I really NEED to go see more concerts? Can I afford that?
My number #1 rule was (still is) "if you have to get yourself in debt for it- don't do it!". That's when I started looking for old lost accounts, money some old jobs owed me, another saving I had and I found the money ( at least I hope I did coz now I'm all booked)
So it all looks great but then I started asking myself if thats the right way to spend THAT money.. Sure I'm dyeing to see an NKOTB concert (again) and I don't know what the future holds for me... I know today I can go, I have no responsibilities, no kids to take care of, my boss is fine with me taking those days off, I know I'm going to have the time of my life, not just because of the NK'S but also because I'm going to finally meet so many people I call friends and still... something bothers me.
Call it early midlife (hey hey!! I'm only 31) crisis, call it a reality call, call it what you want baby- I still call it love, but today I found myself thinking about all the things I could do with that money. I could finally study and take my driving license exam (in Israel it's mandatory to take around 30 lessons.. all together is 1000 usd) and buy an used car ( probably less than 3000 usd) I could buy a mac (not THE mac) I could study design, could save the money, hell!! I could travel for over 4 months in South America or India with that kind of money.. I could do so many things, things that will be useful for me and for people I know..
So yes, i find myself wondering and thinking this whole thing, have I lost my mind? Am I that childish? Don't I have any sense of responsibility? maybe I should wake up from this NKOTB world and start doing other things with my money..
What really makes me worry is the fact that I always come to the same answer: SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SPEND THE MONEY ON WHAT YOU WANT!. I find myself feeling that the cruise+concerts are the right thing to do, maybe not the most responsible, maybe not the most mature- but the most ME. I keep on remembering that none of us has any guarantees on what tomorrow will bring, I keep telling myself that I have food on my plate (and fridge), that I pay my rent on time, that I work and pay my bills and I never get into debt so why not?
But still.. why is it that i feel that guilt thing for doing something fun for myself? Why is it that I find myself thinking what I could do with that money if... why is it that I can't just tell myself to SHUT UP AND ENJOY?
I always lived by the simple rule that says: I rather live than die rich. So why is it that I find myself thinking so much about this money?
Am I going completely nuts!? Is spending around 5000 usd on a two week trip normal? Should I be locked and put away? And if I should.... could I please be interrogated by Detective Joel Stevens?

Dear Spinach ( If you did any sort of research you should know why I'm calling you that.. hint: it has nothing to do with your nutritional value)
I just read that thing you like to call article about NKOTB fans and well... I'm well known for not being able to keep my mouth shut so here it comes.
First of all let me explain to you what research is: Research in journalism is what the so called journalist actually tries his best to find. It's REAL information based on FACTS and not on his personal opinion...See? my journalism teacher in high-school always told us that what differences a real journalist from an asshole that feels like everyone should read his stupidity is having the INTELLIGENCE to get the facts right and having the COURAGE to tell them even when he doesn't agree with them.
OK, so now let's move to so called "facts"you collected for your piece of work:
The band that "hardly exists anymore"(sorry I'm actually laughing right now) has 3 (not 2 but hey... let's not focus on small insignificant details) Concerts scheduled ALREADY for mid 2010. That doesn't include DVD screenings and more concerts to come. You also forgot to mention the 2008-2009 WORLDWIDE SOLD OUT TOURS. But well.. I guess for some people it's very hard to google and find information.. not everyone has such skills...
If you really read some Blockheads tweets you probably saw that most of them are in a language you don't understand.. and sometimes they are in English but you still don't GET IT .. I know.. It's hard for some people to be able to recognize HUMOR, SARCASM and all sorts of things that require at least an average IQ level. So yeah some BH (I'll help you with this.. its BLOCKHEADS) write teasing and naughty stuff to the guys but it's all in good HUMOR. Do we think that Jordan Knight reads them and actually considers having sex with any of us!? NO .. Do we really think that D-dub (yayyy you got that one right when u called him DW) wants to move with us to Utah and marry all of us? NO...but we have a good time and a good laugh connecting with the guys and seems like they have a good time too.
It's all about the love (it's a feeling.. you can google it and find out what that is) and the good spirit and you know what ? we are damn good at love and good spirit.. and it doesn't hurt anyone. If anything it helps us all... Some of us ( me included) are not English speakers... do you have any idea how our English has improved since we started tweeting!? Some of us are from countries that have no diplomatic relations.. and being a part of the amazing Blockhead family has brought us together. I know... it sounds strange for some people but that isn't OUR problem... thats the Spinach problem...
One more thing.. those fans that you think you know, the fans that you try to describe in such a poor way are grown up women, most of them with families, great jobs, responsibilities and probably a higher level of education than you. So in our ADULT and MATURE state of mind we decide to be a part of what twitter and the BH family offers to us.. not because we NEED IT or we HAVE TO but because we WANT TO and because we have earned the right to decide what we want to do with our time.
I would go on answering to your false facts but hey! look at the time... it's time to go back to twitter and offer Donnie, Jon and Jordan some group sex... See?! I always know how to spend my time
So dear spinach.... let me share with you some of my grandma (Z"l- thats an abbreviation in Hebrew for may her memory be blessed) wisdom. She always used to tell us: When you don't have anything smart to say SHUT THE FUCK UP (OK fine! you got me... the FUCK is my own wisdom)

The Odd World of Digital Groupies

For a band that hardly exists anymore, The New Kids on the Block have a shocking number of groupies.

Their last album, aside from a recent reunion effort, dropped in 1994. And their website lists only two planned shows, one this month and one in May 2010. Yet tens of thousands of fans spend hours each day actively following, discussing, and most importantly, reaching out to the bandmembers. "I think that if you're a true fan, you'll never put them down or think anything they do is impossible," says a fan who goes by Nala. "I'm a little afraid to admit I spend almost 24/7 on those guys."

"You have to draw the line—nobody else will," says hip-hop sensation Asher Roth. "Technology isn't going to draw the line. They would put these people right in your house."

Nala isn’t a stalker, per se. She’s a digital groupie, a modern-day Penny Lane who uses the internet as a tool to get as close as electronically possible to the stars she worships.

The New Kids have some of the most devoted digital groupies on the internet. In a typical day online, 40-year-old New Kids singer Donnie Wahlberg is very active on Twitter, where he has nearly 100,000 followers. He responds (or in Twitterese, "at-replies") to fans who call themselves soldiers in the DDubs Army, “DDubs” being slang for D.W., Wahlberg's initials. He Tweets about his performances and about charity events he's doing. New Kids enthusiasts—who call themselves Blockheads—gather in private chat rooms like welovenewkids to talk about the band. There's a downloadable NKOTB Tweetdeck background and a robust community on Ning. The band's Facebook page has over 120,000 fans.

Crazed followers are nothing new for rock stars, of course. But historically, the groupie-idol relationship was a one-way street. Anyone could obsess, but except for the truly “professional” groupies (the ones who’d end up on the bus) the most your average fan could expect was a signed publicity photo.

That’s all changed. As more celebrities maintain an open and accessible online presence, their fans have gained unprecedented access to the stars they worship—and to each other. The result is obsession of internet-sized proportions.

The 24-year-old hip-hop sensation Asher Roth, who got his start on MySpace in college, says he has to toe a careful line between maintaining a robust online presence and keeping fans at a respectful distance. "They want the contact," he says. "They want to feel like they can hang out with you." Roth has a Twitter feed that he maintains ("I do it right from my Blackberry," he says), a Facebook fan page maintained by his manager, a MySpace page, a Ning community, and a YouTube channel maintained by a friend, where Roth posts what he calls a "behind-the-scenes look at what's going on." It's all in the service of making fans feel like they "know" him—but without getting too close. "You have to draw the line—nobody else will," he says. "Technology isn't going to draw the line either. They would put these people right in your house."

Case in point: Nala, who goes by the handle “Nala Wahlberg,” posts around 50 Tweets a day, some directed at other New Kids groupies, others at the bandmembers themselves. The most hardcore fans spend hours a day playing digital groupie. A few samples from various fans' Twitters sound like this (they're at-replying to the New Kids themselves):

Bandmembers will sometimes send an at-reply to a particular post—getting a reply from Donnie is particularly prized. "There's something special about bands who really care about their fans,” says Nala. A few days ago, Donnie posted: "I was wondering if anyone was in the mood for a TWUG?" (a hug, in Twitterspeak.) Ten minutes later, Donnie had at-replied 31 times to different fans, including giving one fan a "backrubTWUG" and another a "feelbettertwug."

These fan communities have their own vocabulary, their own histories and dramas. Social currency is measured by how much time you spend cultivating your online fan presence. “If you're real,” says Nala, “then your whole world should revolve around [the band].”

By that standard, there are plenty of “real” digital groupies. They congregate on forums like RockGroupie.com, swapping stories and soliciting gossip—some of it outlandish--about their favorite stars. Wild speculation is epidemic, and rumors run rampant. In response to a claim that Japanese rock outfit Dir En Grey’s drummer, Shinya, might be gay, another groupie chides, “None of them are gay, and Shinya is screwing most of his fanbase from what I’m told.” Often, entire bands are treated as singular individuals. Buckcherry? “They like older chicks better,” a groupie states definitively.

Allie Lemaire, a 28-year-old New Kids digital groupie from Long Island, says she always looks for evidence that her efforts at reaching out are affecting the bandmembers. "I went to a meet-and-greet,” she says. “Donnie took the time and hugged every single person. It went to Twitter and his thing was to get a million Twitter hugs. It made you think they actually care about you."

That makes sense, says Scott Fox, who launched Bill O'Reilly's website and fan community in 2002 and is the author of eRiches 2.0: Next Generation Online Marketing Strategies. "The top thing that fans want is a sense of personal connection with the celebrity," he says. "They like the feeling that they're getting closer to that person, whether true or imagined."

True or imagined? It’s a notion many online groupies don’t allow themselves to consider. But the internet can create a warped sense of intimacy. Sure, the bandmembers appear to be engaged with their online communities, but their involvement is partially a means to an end. "I remember one time they kept posting, go to TRL and vote for 'Hangin’ Tough'," says Lemaire, referring to the New Kids’ hit song from 1989. "So TRL had to play ‘Hangin' Tough’ one day."

And no matter how many Tweets Donnie Wahlberg sends to the New Kids army, the very nature of groupie-ism makes the relationship mostly one-way. Ddubs Army, who began Tweeting the New Kids when Donnie got on Twitter, laments that "he's never Tweeted me,” even though she’s often “tried to get his attention.”

Which is where the whole endeavor gets a little sad. Groupies have always shared an ultimate goal: sex with the band. Following them from gig to gig is just the pilgrimage—it’s the back of the bus that groupies strive to reach. And the truly committed get there more often than you’d think. Hell, Cynthia Plaster Caster parlayed her groupie status into a career making plaster molds of rock stars’ penises.

But today’s digital groupies spend most of their time peering longingly into a computer monitor, and bandmembers use the internet’s remoteness to keep them both close—and at arm’s length. Asher Roth, for his part, has no interest in meeting these people in real life, much less having sex with them. "Once you enter into that world, people are going to have those expectations," he says. "I'm very, very selective. You have to be really careful who you at-reply." He never, ever Tweets about his location. "My dad will always be like, why don't you say you're at this restaurant right now," he says. "I'm like, people will show up."
In fact, often the digital groupies are just talking to each other, and sometimes the chatter can turn toxic, as Laura Hale, who runs a Fan History wiki, points out. "Back during the early height of Harry Potter movie craziness, I knew of thirtysomething female fans talking about their rape fantasies, with them as the rapist, involving Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe," says Hale. "Lord of the Rings fans believed that the actors were sending them secret messages about being secretly involved." Hale also recalled the tale of a Lord of the Rings fan fiction writer who handed Ian McKellon stories about having sex with other members of the cast—while McKellon was out to lunch with his partner.

Or take what happened last month, when 15-year-old pop star Justin Bieber's appearance at a Long Island mall was canceled after 10,000 fans showed up. An executive at Bieber's record label, Island Def Jam, was arrested for sending out a Tweet to more fans telling them to come even after the police had tried to disperse the crowd. Bieber himself is an active Twitterer and sent out several apologetic Tweets after the mall fiasco.

"People want more all the time," says Roth, who will relaunch his website in January with much more frequently updated content, particularly photos and videos. "You have to constantly update your content. You don't want to go stale but don't want to give these people your lives and turn into The Truman Show."

OPERATION BOOM.BANG.2010. HERE WE GOOOOOO

Hmmmm. took me a while to post this but you will have to excuse me, because i have been busy with university stuff and besides I'M ON THAT BOAT SO I DON'T FREAKING CARE IF YOU DON'T EXCUSE ME!!!
So since the dates of the cruise and the sale and pre-sale were published i have been trying to decide if i should go or not. Lists of pro and cons have been written, hundreds of tweets have been tweeted, long night chats have been chatted and i still couldn't make my mind.
I wanted to go- thats no secret, but I also wanted to be smart so it was like this: I wont have money for both cruise and tour, and since Jon showed no signs of wanting to marry me and take me with him and his little bro on that boat -I had to choose.
Then i realized my 2 guttah friends and possible roomies were not going....thats when i decided that i wont go and i will keep the money for a few concerts coz hey, we all know that one cruise can buy at least 4 VIP concerts.. see? I can even do basic math.
Then a friend asked me if i was going coz she was looking for a roomie and BOOM!!! YES YES YES!!! IM GOING!!!!! FREAKIN YES!!!! the only condition we had was: we are going ONLY if the cabins of less than 1000 usd are available. the way i saw it .. if god wants me there there will be a cabin for me and if there isn't then well. it wasn't meant to be
Thats when the fun begun...........
The day of the sale got here... and since I've heard from past cruisers that it took them hours to book on pre-sale i got myself prepared.. oh yeah!!! nothing was gonna stand between me and seasickness!
Sale starts at 18:00 Israeli time so ..
17:45-I made myself a huge iced-coffee, took some comfort food, my phone, my cellphone, my roomie's info.. and waited.... and waited .. and then waited a bit more
17:50- I remind myself that I'm gonna stay calm and thats all out of my hands, i will do my best to get us on that boat but its not up to me really
18:01- I got in the site.... found THE CHEAPEST CABIN... entered out info and .. surprise surprise... got kicked out the server...

You know how it goes from here so to make a long story short... so
somewhere around 21:00 (THREE hours after i got in the site) I managed to put our names on a cheap cabin.. then when i went to the payment page... surprise surprise..... got kicked out
20:05 - my roomie and I decide that screw our mature math and thinking... we are booking whatever is available
20:50 I found a medium priced cabin.. I even put our payment info.. and of course i never get the confirmation page... so smart ass me clicks back and again and again.. Then i realized that i might be double booking but well... You know...... I WANNA BE ON THAT BOAT!!!
23:00- (yes.. FIVE hours later) I get an email confirmation- WE ARE ON THAT BOAT!!!
But the surprise is that god-knows-how it booked us on the CHEAP cabin.. the first one i picked and got kicked out of it.... Thats when i realized GOD EXISTS AND SHE IS A BLOCKHEAD!!!
So of course Rose Tours had a huge mess and almost charged me twice but although I've heard some horror stories about them, they have been nothing but nice to me, they fixed the problem immediately and the big surprise is that They are gonna have Kosher food for me on board.. i didn't even requested it.. i just asked if it was available.. See? god is a blockhead!!!!!
A few days later me and another BH booked an hotel so we can spend a few days in Miami since we are coming from far away (Israel and Australia) and then i even found a great deal on a flight .. so you know what i think about god and her music tendencies- right!?
So the bad thing about this is that theres only around 2000 of us on that boat and lot so friends and people I know where not lucky enough to be able to book... lots of them had worse problems during booking, than i did. and other just gave up. And others decided to save the money for future tours.
Me? As Ddub says... I live only once, I don't know where am I gonna be when they launch a new tour ( probably home, eating my guts for not going) but I do know that NOW i have the possibility to go to that cruise, NOW I have the chance to go spend 3 days with a bunch of crazy BH.
So I hope Jon and Jordan are getting ready coz......

Gotta warn you all, this blog is being written a few hours after the last concert has ended (Last for this tour) and well, I'm a woman after all.... so forgive me if it gets too messy or too long in here.

Last night I finally sat down and watched the webcast, it felt almost as if I was there, sharing the moments with the guys and with my BH sistahs. I saw the opening and I had the butterflies in my stomach, I watched "If you go away" and I could feel like they were really reaching a hand and touching my soul, for realz, thats how I felt. I managed to watch "5 brothers& million sisters" without crying..It actually made me happy, it made me think about all my BH sisters that have been with me along this ride, about the fun we have togetah and just made me think that hell!! if they came back after so long.. they will nevah disappear.. RIGHT?
And then it happened.."I'll be loving you forever"!! while I was watching Jordan sing that, I realized what a long and great journey this one is ( I'd hate to write has been). While Jordan was giving his whole heart in that song, in a way only he can, I was that 13 year old girl again, sitting alone at my house (well this time I had booze with me- great improvement) after we moved to Israel and I had no one I could call a friend here, watching those great 5 guys on a video tape over and over again and feeling that I had someone I could trust. I remember the first time I saw the long version of IBLYF, where you get to see Jordans hands on the piano and thinking " life can't be that bad when I can see this".I don't think I can really explain what got into me back in the day , what was it in NKOTB that made me feel so special. I knew they were not "my friends" I knew they didn't even know I existed and I knew (well at least I thought I knew) that I will never get to see them and still, they were the closest thing to a best friends hug I had back then.
Time has gone by, 17 years have passed since that moment, I grew up, I changed, I made so many friends so easily, I traveled, I studied, I had good (and bad) real relationships, I met people, I went trough a few things in life but still, I have never felt the comfort I felt that time i first saw Jordan on the piano.
And last night, while I watched it, I was there again, only this time (Thank god for twitter)I finally had people with me (virtually) that could understand what I was talking about. People that didn't think it was weird I needed a box of Kleenex while watching a webcast. Last night, I was really crying like a baby when I watched IBLYF,I srsly was, but I had someone to share it with.. and I think that is one of the secrets of NKOTB- the BH sisterhood.
For a few weeks now I have been trying to understand what is it about NKOTB that make us feel so good, that make us be what we are- BLOCKHEADS. Coz there must be something larger than just the music or the looks or even they're personalities. I really think there must be a special something in the interaction between them. between them and us. between ourselves that makes them something larger than just a FREAKING HOT BOY BAND.
While I was making the " 5 bros& million sistahs" video I told some of you that I think NKOTB don't have even one ugly fan. Today I saw a video of a fan that was kissed for the first time in her life this year by Ddub,then it started to all come together, they make us feel good about ourselves. When we are around them, when they write to us, they make us feel like we are the most amazing women in the world. When Jordan looks into your eyes you feel like there's no one else he rather look at, when Donnie kisses you or talks to you the room is empty and all you can feel is him & you. When Jon hugs you (well thats if you don't die in his arms) you feel like he really cares, like that hug is as special for him as it is for you. And thats part of the secret, we all go trough life with our insecurities, with our things and sometimes we forget about ourselves, about the need to feel special, to feel a woman. Sure, most of us have partners, friends, husbands but in this crazy race that we call life sometimes we forget that we need that special attention, and that attention makes us all feel better about ourselves. Just look at pictures of us with the guys, the special sparkle we have in our eyes, and what amazes me the most- the guys have the same sparkle. It's like they really care that we feel good when we are around them. I know, the cynical in me tells me: thats they're job. But I'd like to think that this is more than just they're job, that when they say they care- they mean that.. and you know what? when I think about Jon and the way he talks/twiters to us I know it is not just they're job and I know it goes both ways. I know they enjoy the fact that now we can really appreciate them more than when we were teenagers, I feel like they know we all made sacrifices (small or big) to go see them and I just know that when they say thank you- they mean it from the bottom of they're hearts just as much as we do.
Another thing that amazes me is how real they are to us, while other bands will keep iT very politically correct, our guys get mad when we are dumb, they get sad when they are alone, they have fears, they get sick, they get tired and they don't hide that from us, they really let us be a part of they're lives just as much as we let them be a part of ours.
And I just feel that only certain people can "get that" like if you are a Blockhead it isn't just because you happen to like NKOTB. It is because you are willing to let yourself go with them. You are willing to open your heart and let all of it get in. And thats what I think it's the real secret of NKOTB- the BLOCKHEADS. I have meet lots of people in my life,from so many countries and in so many circumstances I can't even remember. But I NEVAH met a bunch of people so special as Blockheads. Really,I remember back in October, the first time I stepped(well, typed) to NKOTBFANS and I didn't even know what to say, what to write. Will people even read what I say? I was scared as I never been in a virtual community before. And from day one I felt like home, I felt that when I write something - someone that CARES will really read it. I was really new in the community when I decided that I must go to a concert but I couldn't order a VIP (damn ILAA- Israeli credit cards are not good enough for them) and then, without doubting me, without thinking I might be a weirdo Lydia told me she would buy it for me. She just trusted me the same way I trusted her without even knowing each other. Then I met more and more blockheads, people that really became a part of my life,people that know how to make me smile (BOOM.BANG.JK.ON.DECK), that know how to make me happy (Chubby JK in white jacket), people that were excited for me when I got to meet the guys- as much as I was excited for myself. Then I kind of entered the Jon board.. and that was scary as hell, for realz, I knew it was a big strong happy family there and those kind of situations are always hard for outsiders, but once again, Jon girls just as my hommies ,the Jordangirls, and just as any Blockhead I met made me feel at home right away,I think I even came to live in peace with the fact that I WANT A KNIGHT SANDWICH and theres nothing I can do about it!!
So I know Donnie said once that Jon is the "special sauce" but if you ask me Blockheads are the special sauce, Blockheads are the ones that make this ride so special, so much fun and yes, so emotional.When such an amazing bunch of people come together to celebrate they're love for 5 great guys- there's magic, and THAT IS THE SECRET OF NKOTB for me. You girls, me, and the guys, the interactions between us are what make us a family of 1,000,005 members.
So now this part of the ride is ending ( excuse me while I use anotah tissue), the guys are going back to they're lives, they are getting they're well deserved rest and I have this strange knot in my throat, Like theres so much I need to say and I can't find the words. I wish I could say just thank you , but I'm not sure thank you is enough to express all the feelings I have right now. I feel like no mattah what words will I choose to use- they wont be enough. It's like trying to explain to an outsider what a Jon or a Jordan hug feels like...What a Ddub kiss feels like sometimes words are not what you need to express how you feel.
Sure, I'm sad , sad that there will be no new youtubes to watch (shhhh don't tell Jon) sad that I didn't really get to be in a Full Service concert, sad that I don't know how long will it be till next time we hear from them, sad that this chapter is ovah.
But I'm also happy, happy that at 30 I got to make a childhood dream come true, happy that I got to have more dreams just at a time when I forgot what dreams are made of.I'm happy that I got to be myself with no masks, happy that I was a part of this journey , happy that for 5 short minutes I got to look into NKOTB eyes and feel that sparkle. happy that when I'll be gray and old I will have this amazing story to tell to my grandkids, a story about a bunch of crazy women and 5 crazy guys and dreams coming true.

So sure, right now I'm crying like a baby, I'm crying coz I have so many mixed feelings about this, but I know that in a few days when I'll readjust to life with NKOTB on break The happy part will be the one I will carry with me,because no matter how long it will take them to come back, no matter where it will happen, when or how I just know they will do it when the time and place are right not only for them but for us. And i know that when that magic happens again we will all be there once again, typing with Boston accent, using words only we can understand, laughing together, being excited about otah fans meeting the guys. I just know that this magic will never end.. even if takes us a lifetime to live it again- WE WILL GET ANOTAH NKOTB RIDE and it will be as amazing as this one.

I wanted to end this blog thanking some blockheads that became so close to me that I can truly call them friends, so this time I wont use nicknames, this time it's a real woman talking to her sistahs.
So thank you Lydia for helping me make my dream come true.Thank you Becks for being there while it happened and for not killing me for my over excitement.
Thank you Lee, Jackie,Brita,Kara,Kristy for being as excited as i was when i flew to Amsterdam. thank you for being there for me during all the preparations, thank you for creating that amazing place I still call home

So, it's true, NKOTB are no Leonard Cohen, no Bob Dylan and sure no Beatles.They're music is not like that at all. I don't think they even try, they don't need to.And why should they?
So sure, people tell themselves, NKOTB are just a boyband talking about those weird things called.. hmm.. "feelings" those not sophisticated and shameless things called "feelings".Or even worse, ppl tell themselves and do that face again, when you listen to them you feel that thing.... the one that is only allowed for kids... what was it's name again? hmm.. "fun". After all we know, grownups like us are not supposed to listen to music that stimulates things like "feelings"or "fun"or that part in your body called "heart" Grownups should be listening to music only stimulating the brains, the kind of music that you need to listen to like 1000000 times to try to understand the deepest levels of it (I will save you the time.. at the end of the day Cohen, Dylan,Lennon they all talk about Love too). I mean people are mature- they listen to mature music and not to that boyband crap, right? Mature people base they're assumptions ( including the musical ones) on known facts.. and they know better than we, Blockheads, do- right? They know NKOTB is bad music because they have read musical handbooks, they have all composed at least 5 songs with such deep meaning sand with such level of complex that they are allowed to bring other ppl's music down- right? They know NKOTB have bad music because they took the time to go to a few concerts, to listen to the guys voices, and so they can tell that NKOTB are not good singers, after all they have seen them several times on stage dancing, singing, smiling, and making people happy so they know- thats is trash music. Mature people all took the time to meet each one of "the kids", they have listened to them talk, they have seen the videos, the twitts, the facetime talk- so they knwo for a fact that all NKOTB want is our money and that they are just using us to get money...
Because seriously , you wouldn't expect from mature people ( the kind that tells you what to do, who to like and what is "quality"and what is "trash") to base what they think about NKOTB only on a remote memory they have from the time they were 15.
Well, i have a few things to say to mature people:
Music is not about quality,a washing machine is about quality!! Music is about feelings and about soul and about all those "uncool" things. Music is about opening your heart and feeling that it is being touched. Music is about someone making magic out of your thoughts. Music is about LOVE, the love for a person, for life, for god, for your dog or even for chocolate (specially if Jon falls asleep on it). And sure, you can take a simple thing like love and make a "sophisticated"song that makes you wonder whats the song about, or you can keep it real, simple and sing a simple phrase as "It's not the way you look that brings me to my knees, is the way you look at me"(and yes, i know my friends are laughing and rolling eyes now). Sure, that line is simple, it doesn't have too many analogies, but it is not a literature quizz for crying outloud!! it is MUSIC.. and if you let it touch your soul.. you don't need too many big words!!.
People: it is OK for a band to get on stage and have fun with it's fans!! It doesn't mean they have nothing to offer so they cover it with sexy moves or smiles.. actually its the opposite, it means they are having fun and it means they know they're audience so well that they want to give them what they came for.. of course they could stand still on the stage, no lights,and say maybe "hi"when they get on stage and then "thank you"when they get off... you know.. like "serious musicians"do- but instead they choose to make each concert count. to make they're audience feel wanted ,feel happy, to let the audience's heart touch they're heart.. and thats something that only someone that is really willing to "be in the moment"can feel.

I'm sorry, but if you took the time to see Jordan singing "|'ll be loving you forever"and didn't feel your heart touched then you are not human my friend. You might be mature, you might be sophisticated but you forgot about being human...and then, it's not you the one that needs to feel sorry for me for "living in your NKOTB bubble"is me that needs to feel sorry for you for not letting your humanity come out, for you becoming a robot, a smart one, but still- a robot.

So the truth is that im tired of people telling me that my "obsession" is childish or uncool,or not normal. I;m tired of people rolling they're eyes when i talk about thing sthat make me happy, and yes, NKOTB, and all that comes with it (friends, songs, videos,twitter) make me happy, they touch my heart in ways sophisticated and mature people will never be able to do. they remind me I'm human, they remind me there is love in this world and they remind me that it is ok to dreama nd to follwo your dreams (even if your dreams are not world peace or saving humanity).
So ppl, if you are not capable of watching this video till the end, or if you are not capable of feeling anything while watching it. If you have a friend ( or that friend is me) that you think is loosing it for loving NKOTB...
Then im sorry for you, I;m sorry for the good times you are missing, I;m sorry for that beautiful part in life you are not dealing with and if you think me or my Blockhead sistahs are weird or sad or pathetic then I;m gonna ask you to politely FUCK OFF!!

7:31- One of the "kids"twitter since they just finished a show. You promise yourself that today you won't be late for work/university.
7:45 - OH SNAP! still at the exact same pose.. gotta get out the house
7:50 - You drag yourself out the chair and put some makeup
7:58- Check your replies on Twitter coz maybe Jordan saw what you wrote (the answer is no)
7:59 - Jk starts a guessing game
8:00- "ok im late anyways.. i might as well play the game for ONLY ONE MINUTE"
8:10- You find the strength to leave the house
8:15- waiting for the bus and thanking god for WIFI and phones (Oh!! look!! JK is thinking about a dead American man)

The Life of a Blockhead

We wake up in the morning, and we see their faces. They’re looking so good, everything’s in place!
No, really, being a blockhead is a very special, very rewarding experience. Unless you’re a Blockhead…you just don’t get it. It’s not like being a fan of say, Metallica, or 50 Cent. It’s not even like being a Fanilow. Blockheads are in a class of their own.
Blockheads get certain perks, like long lasting friendships, meet-ups, and after/before parties. We get videos and blogs. We even get cruises! The concerts are off the hook, and don’t get me started on the tweeting.
The day I realized this truly was something special was the day Donnie Wahlberg said in an interview “You know, all the fans keep telling us thank you for coming back, but they are the ones that deserve the thanks.”
That just blew me away. Us? Thanks? For what? Showing up? Without THEM, none of this would be possible. Without their families giving up time with their men. Without THEM giving up parts of their lives. And he wants to thank US? I just don’t get that. I can’t understand why us? They give up SO much, we just show up! The sacrifices they have made…
When you’re a blockhead you learn certain terminology like ‘Macanatomy’ and ‘Jontourage’. If you don’t know what ‘Jordangate’ or ‘Onlinegate’ is, you’re not a blockhead. Ever hear of the GML Divas? Do you see an owl and chuckle? How about Toni Spelelli or Watson? Don’t even get me started on TINK!
Do you see a picture of Joe in his Joker pants circa 1990 and think…omg, I have to post that in fashion disasters! (I would have picked the leather pants/net shirt combo, but to each their own…).
NKTV, “Let’s Get This” ,Jared, Twisted, “That’s how we roll”, Brownies, manscaping, “Leave Jon alone!”, right click SAVE!, mystery men, green lights, chocolate covered New Kids, palm fronds, bus stalking, the trinity church, HALLA!, facetime… all blockhead related. We get it. And that’s all that matters. We change words like Starbucks to Stahbucks. Supersoakers into supahsoakers, tractors into Tractahs. We rename body parts like ‘donnie’s onion’, the ‘macbooty’, we say ‘oh my Jord’ and ‘Oh Snap!’ Don’t understand? It’s ok. It’s a blockhead thing.
Above all that fun, there’s something more. There’s something better. There’s love. Love is the key to being a blockhead. You love your sistahs, you love the guys. And guess what? They love us back. And they make sure we know it! THAT’S where other groups, other celebs, fail. They just assume, they pass us by without even a glance. The guys…they look at us and wink. They smile, they do the LIP BITE and make us melt into a puddle of goo. And they do it knowing what effect it has. The power they hold in their hands! They say HI, they wave, they sign autographs and pose for pics. They blog, they take videos, they tweet, they shout out to us making us feel special. It never ends with them. Always something new, always above and beyond. THAT’S why we do it. THAT’S why we show up. THAT is what keeps us coming back for more!
So you think you know what a blockhead is? I doubt it. But it’s ok. You don’t NEED to understand. It’s our thing. It’s special to us. It’s sacred. We know we’re in our 30’s. We know we’re acting giddy and childish. It’s all in fun! It’s not real. It’s all in fun. It’s our escape. It’s OUR thing.
Watching twisted over and over, tweeting Joe 3000 times to get him to number one, writing radio stations angry letters because they wont play our guys, flaming a certain a-hole who talks smack on Jon, staying up until midnight to see what our next mission is, waiting for 6 days out in front of the Today Show studio IN THE RAIN so we can be sure to get the best seats… we do what we have to do… THEY do, we should too! It’s the LEAST we could do.
This has been an amazing year. Dreams were fulfilled; there were hugs and tears, smiles and laughter, music and love. It doesn’t get better than that folks. It just doesn’t. We’re a family, and if you missed out on it because of some image you have from 20 years ago…then I feel sorry for you. Make the jump, just do it. Let yourself go. You wont regret it! And hopefully this isn’t the end. If it is, then we’ve had an amazing year regardless. If it’s not, then it can only get better!!
Embrace that which is NKOTB.

Trying to keep it real.. Aka.. it might sound like I'm lecturing you but I'm not

Let me start saying that I feel so so bad for the girls that got concerts canceled/changed and now are unable to go. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter if it was your first of your 100000 show, I'm sure you had expectations, dreams and hopes about the concerts and the truth is that it might sound dramatic but I can't even imagine how bad you feel. For realz, I don't know how would I be feeling if my Amsterdam dream - concert back in February was canceled. I know some of you, specially the ones coming over seas and I know the last thing you wanna do is be mad at NKOTB.. I know my sistahs.. you girls are amazingly better than that.
I guess that's why I was so shocked to read some comments ppl had about this issue. Once again, you might say that it is easy to me to be in the "stay cool"position as I was not going to any concerts ( well.. unless Jordan flies me up there that is...*wink*) but well.. I feel like some things need to be said:
First of all I'm sure the change of plans was done really coz there was no other choice, as Jon said, I don't think the guys are happy about the changes either, and as a matter of fact I bet they are as mad as some of they're own fans.
But ppl please let's remember why are we here, we are here coz the LOVE for NKOTB brought us here, coz we LOVE the guys, we LOVE the music and most of all, and I feel like I'm speaking for like 99.9999% of the Blockheads: WE TRUST THE GUYS.
So we should know that if something like this happens it is coz there was really no other choice.
Lately I have read so many nasty comments to them about the "International fans issue"(Hello!!!!!! I am writing this freakin' blog from Israel and now tell me I'm not a dedicated fan just coz I wasn't born on Uncle's Sam land) And now this!??!!?
I really feel like the guys are really doing a lot for us. I mean, if they wanted to they could do like most bands do: just a quick "hello we are back and we want your money" Tour.. they could charge 150 usd for the regular tickets and they know they will still have sold out concerts. They could decide they Don't travel to Europe.. they could say "F#%ck you all!! we ain't going to Australia just coz a couple of crazy fans want us there"(Love you Australians!!!!) And hell!! they could be spending the summer with they're families, recording solo records, filming, resting and living the good life..
But
They are not doing all that and maybe I am too naive (If you know me you know you can call me lot of things but naive ain't one of them) But i really believe from deep in my heart that the guys do everything that they do just coz they wanna give back, coz when they say that fans are the 6th member of the group they mean that.
I really feel like sometimes us, the fans, get too demanding and we forget that they don't OWE us anything. They don't have to do like over 100 concerts in less than a year to make us happy... they do it coz THEY CARE... They don't have to give away tickets , they do it coz THEY CARE. they don't have to twitter to keep us happy when they are with they're families... BUT THEY DO
That, my fellow blockheads is FREAKIN' LOVE!!!
And for me NKOTB always has been about the love, and I believe that for 99.9999% of all of us so please please let's not allow the 0.0000001% ruin this amazing journey for us.
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing but This is what I had in mind when I woke up this morning and since this is my blog.. i get to write whatever i feel like writing ;-)

I do believe you will still get your chance to fulfill your dream... good things happen.. I mean.. did you think 2 years ago that you will ever get to listen to a new NKOTB album? Did I think a year ago that I will be able to go see the guys? and yet.. GOOD THINGS DID HAPPEN..
In Hebrew we say that everything happens for a reason and that bad things happen only to let us enjoy the good stuff that comes after.. and well...

So the guys are giving back for real! First it was Donnie with the twisted video thing and soon WE will get to pick how's going to meet him in Boston and now Jordan - I'm to sexy for my shirt but i won't take it off till Yael gets here- Knight is gonna pick one fan and actually pay for her ticket to NY AND FOR THE HOTEL ROOM IN HIS OWN WORDS "SPEND THE NIGHT ON ME"...
How amazing is that!??! the fact that they are actually doing this? they don't have to do it, they will keep on being as popular as they are now without doing it. They will keep having sold out concerts but yet they decide to go ahead and do it.. and that's what makes them so special.
Now, I've read some twitters being mad about the fact that it is only open for US citizens. I really don't see why. I'm not a USA citizen but I'm happy that SOMEONE will get to go and enjoy that... just THINK POSITIVE PPL!!!

A request from my fellow Blockheads

So it is this time of the year again, when our boys have they're well deserved time off and we get to deal with our NKOTB withdrawals.
I remember last time they where on a break, a few months ago, Jordan posted on myspace something about people picking into his windows at home and also disturbing his mother. Personally I think that people that do that kind of things are sick , not to mention breaking the most important right a human being (and as amazingly gorgeous as our boys are-they are still human) has: the right for privacy.
Anyways, I'm writing this to request from all of us to please behave during those few weeks the guys have to spend with they're families.Please, let's give them the space they need. Let's let them live some kind of normal life.
I don't know about you but I want them here for a long ride and not to get sick and tired of crazy fans after the summer tour. I want them to stay around for a while but in order to do so , the guys need ( i think) they're time off.
Can you imagine how hard it must be for a father of 2 young kids to be spending most of this year away from home, not seeing his kids grow, not dealing with homework, missing soccer games, etc?. I can only imagine the sacrifice they are doing to spend so much time making US happy.
Sure, I'm not naive, I know this is they're job, i know this is the deal they all signed for, but as they said several times, they don't NEED this, they could all live happily and quietly at home but instead they choose to come back, and they choose to add more dates when we never dreamed about it, they choose to spend time with us, to let us take pictures, talk to us, for crying out loud- they are freaking twittering us!!
Now don't get me wrong, I think that while they are on tour the terms change, when they are on tour it is OK to be a crazy bus stalker ( in Jon words) it is OK to ask for a picture and a autograph (ASK- not take if you don't ASK), I'm not gonna lie to you,if you read my blog you know that I did take pics with them in Amsterdam and I did meet them at the hotel, but never in a disrespectful way and NEVER when they where on they're time off. But I think that when they are not on tour it is they're own private time. A time to dedicate to they're families, they're other jobs... etc.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if we want them around for a long time we need to respect they're rights as human beings and just let them be while they are not on tour...
I just don't want them to get tired of "too much"attention and make us wait for another 15 years to go see them on stage,
And you know what? even more.. i just don't want 5 people i love so much to feel uncomfortable or intimidated.. i want them to enjoy this journey as much as I am enjoying it (and i have only been to 1 concert) and I want them to be able to have grown-up lives.
And another thing: I'm so proud to call myself a Blockhead, srsly, only a few times in life you get to be a part of such an amazing group of ppl and i would hate it if the great prestige we have will be ruined by some crazy ppl behaving like stupid 12 year old fans ( and I'm not saying all 12 year olds are stupid).
So plz, let's keep it real and let's have fun!!!!

Often when we are performing the slow jam medley, I think of all the
legends that came before us- Temptations, 4 Tops, Jackson 5, New
Edition.

At that moment in the show, the lights are dim, mostly spot lights so
it’s very moody and I think of all the tours and road shows that have
come before us. There is something so special about the sound and
moves of those groups- the whole thing really takes me back to the
soulful 60’s and 70’s- a classic time of showmanship that is a lost art.
It’s a privilege to, in our own way, carry that torch.
I wonder, in this day and age of instant everything, will the flame go
out or will we be lucky enough to see it passed along.

Sorry I haven’t posted a blog in awhile, but this tour has been moving at such a fast pace. My daughters and Dad got to come out and see 5 shows in a row. They had the time of their lives. They are road warriors and love every part of being on the road. I can’t put into words how much it has meant to me to be able to share this experience with all my kids. This would not be possible without you guys. So from the bottom of my heart thank you.

This feels like using a rotary phone compared to twitter. Wow! I can
actually finish my thought here and not be sweating to death trying to
get it all in in a hundred and forty characters. Aaahhhh, this is nice.
Hmmm… Let me take a moment and collect my thoughts- what a novelty.
Well, let me see… We had another amazing show in Saskatoonia
( that’s what I like to call it- I add an (ia) to it).
I was hit by a recurring thought as I looked into the eyes of a girl
in the front row. How will I ever explain to each of you what it means
to be able to do what I do for such an audience? It’s such a blessing.
It pushes me to do more. To want more. To be all the things I think I
can be. And I thought of how I ‘get off’ on meeting people that to me
really ‘get it.’ There is a diverse group of people that we attract
and it mirrors the diversity of this group. And when you find those
moments with people when you are on the same page- whether its a look
or a comment or a joke or a story- and you really connect… Well, it’s
like sex to me. It’s that good. And it turns me on and it makes me want
more.
Now put that in your twit and smoke it.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Twenty years ago, when the New Kids on The Block were wearing their hair almost as high as their fame, the music business was a vastly different animal. There was no "American Idol." No such thing as a download, legal or otherwise. People collected posters, not ringtones.
But it appears something has carried over from that distant era. Something loud, something jumpy, something ready to roar: Blockheads (or to those not familiar with boy band lingo, fans of New Kids on the Block).

As a "look who's laughing now" to those who thought reuniting for a new album and tour was a ridiculous idea, the group's past followers came out in droves last year to see Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood give some new choreography a whirl at concert venues around the world.

"I think a special thing happened out there on the road," Wahlberg said. "I think the fans came back not quite knowing what to expect but determined to have a great time. And we came back not quite knowing what to expect [but] determined to have a great time and determined to put on a great show. And I think we all got there and became teenagers again. So cool that the band has announced a whole new set of North American concert dates they're calling the "Full Service" tour. The 34-stop trek kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 28 and winds up in Houston, Texas, on July 18. Tickets go on sale Friday.

But before the tour, New Kids on the Block will hit the high seas -- along with boatloads of Blockheads -- for a three-day concert cruise in the Bahamas in mid-May.
"The cruise is the one area where we've completely lost our minds," Wahlberg said. "We're going to have to answer to thousands of fans on the boat. It's going to be insane."

But perhaps not as insane as things might've been if this were still the '80s. The band members -- now 40ish, and all but one of them fathers -- concede that they've mellowed considerably, and so has their 30-something female fan base.

"We didn't just go completely bonkers and stop being adults," Wahlberg said of the 2008 tour. "The fans didn't hang out in front of the hotel, singing songs for 20 hours straight. They just got hotel rooms and hung out in the lobby and met us for drinks at the bar."

New Kids on the Block recently hung out with CNN and talked about surprising the skeptics, the boy-band stigma and how the music business has changed in the 15 years since they disbanded. The following is an edited version of the interview.

CNN: What's the biggest change you've noticed in the music business?

Joey McIntyre: The music business has changed incredibly. There used to be 50 record companies. Now there's only three, and it's just getting smaller and smaller. But then again, you have the Internet, so anybody who has music can get it out there.

Jordan Knight: We also come from an era where getting on stage and performing, really honing the craft of performing on stage, was important. So lucky for us we have that background, and even though record sales are down, concert ticket sales are up, and that favors us, because that's what we mainly like to do. We like to perform.

CNN: When you left the spotlight, bands like 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys moved in and flourished. Was it difficult for you to watch them take the torch and run with it?

Donnie Wahlberg: I found no bother in other boy bands taking the spotlight for a number of reasons: A, I was not interested in that spotlight myself. B, it was their time. C, we weren't even in a band anymore. I was doing other things ...

McIntyre: It sounds like a comedy skit where we're furious over it!

Wahlberg: Yeah, like "Damn it! Why are they being so successful?"

McIntyre: "We've got to find a way to ruin it!"

Wahlberg: When we came out, there was MTV, and that was it. And there wasn't room for another band like us. ... And when we went away, the music business changed. Suddenly, there were all these different avenues and outlets. ... So you could have three, four, five boy bands, and they could all be very successful. And that was more fascinating to me than anything else.

Anybody who was as successful as those guys were -- be it Backstreet or 'N Sync -- it takes so much hard work to be successful. I can only respect [that]. We had a backlash on us, so to come out as a boy band after us and to have the perseverance to succeed and overcome a lot of doors that were closed from people hating on us ... they deserve credit for that. And we deserve credit now for coming back and overcoming hurdles that are there now for us.

CNN: What are the biggest hurdles?

Wahlberg: The whole concept of us coming back, honestly, was met with skepticism by a lot of people. ... All the record companies thought when (other boy bands) were thriving, that was the time that we should come back. But it was their time; it wasn't our time. ...

The fact that 90 percent of the people who discussed this with us thought it was crazy or thought we'd do a barnstorming tour at best, that in itself is a hurdle, because we had to walk away. We had to all make a commitment to do this. We all had things in our lives that we were doing, that we were committed to. ...

But we believed, and fortunately the fans believed and came back in bigger numbers than we ever imagined and made a lot of people look wrong. It even surprised us.

CNN: Boy bands traditionally get a bit of a hard rap, don't they? You're often dismissed as overly choreographed, a little bit cheesy.

Wahlberg: I think it's easy to criticize things that you maybe don't quite know the story on. But the reality is, we're in the music business. John Mayer might be able to play the guitar better than any of us ... but we all signed record contracts. We've all made a decision to make our career in this business. So to scoff at people because they do something different or don't do what you would do is silly.

Fortunately, we haven't really found that this time around. I think people have come to understand that maybe we're a little bit different ... a little bit more of a grass-roots band than people ever gave us credit for. We weren't picked out of thousands of people. It was a very real story, how we came together.

CNN: Which one of you has changed the most?

Knight: I don't think any of us have really changed. We've matured; we've mellowed a bit. We have more wisdom, but personality-wise, we're all the same and it's good to see. And that's what made us in the past, and that's what makes us now.
anny Wood: I think the change you would see (is when) each of us (is) individually at home with our kids and our family lives. But when we get together, it's all still the same.

Wahlberg: Jon has a British accent now. Danny won't take commercial airliners anymore. Jordan only greets fans with gloves. (They all laugh.) It's a joke!

How i met our New Kids on the Block (aka: I'm not stalking, just following) PART V

I know.. it took me waaaaay to long to post this part but hey! I've waited freaking 14 years to see the guys.. you can wait a month...OK OK back to the story

So I enter the room and the first thing I see is Jordan , I know I walked by Joe and Danny, I know Jon looked at me and that Donnie was there but all I Could see was Jordan.. I saw him, he saw me walking straight to him and he opened his arms just like I always dreamed of... so I took that as an Invitation and give him a hug and he was hugging me really tight so I had to say something.... All I could think about was "oh no!! he is hugging me coz he thinks I'm from the group that is leaving now so it is a Goodbye hug"... and since I'm well known by not being able to shut my mouth and just letting all my thoughts out all I said was "Ohh this is a Hello hug coz I'm from the new group and not a goodbye one"(once again....someone should teach me to keep it shut!!) then he looked at me and I told him "I have a shirt for you"so he looked at my shirt and asked "why should I beware"and I told him "coz I have a sign for you"he laughed and said "ohh" and I asked if I could stand by him for the picture and he smiled and said "sure"! (I almost died there.. technically he just said yes to something I offered.. who the hell cares it is a picture.... I'm sure I would have offered something naughty and he would have said YES.... OH MY GOD!!! I got a yes from Jordan knight).
Then I went to Donnie coz he was the closest and I said hi, he said Hi and it was picture time... so Jordan kind of brought me towards him (and I didn't die!!) and just when the picture was about to be taken one of the girls from the night before looked at me and said "ohh I have no place to stand"and I was like "you are not taking my man!!! he just said yes to me!!"(good thing I didn't say that out loud.. so I do have some self control after all) and she was looking at me and Jordan coz I knew from last night thats where she wanted to stand.. and Jordan actually pulled me towards him a bit ( and I think I stopped breathing for a while) CLICK first picture.. then CLICK second one....
The ILAA person tells us its time to get out...

Now I have to stop the story and go a bit backwards... When I was entering the room I heard Jon saying really out loud "Oh! Israel is in the house"but I was too focused on Jordan so I didn't even say hello to him... So now, when we were asked to leave the room I had to do something about my sexy in-law..... Ok back to the story...

So the ILAA ppl want us out .. but I couldn't care less.. I went straight to Jon, who opened his arms again and I hugged him and right there... I whispered to his ear.... I had so many things in mind to whisper there.. most of them are not decent enough to be posted here but all my brilliant mind came up with was "You know you were my first love? my dad used to hate you"and he laughed ( I must learn to keep my mouth shut.... I really should)..
On my way out I stopped by Jordan again, another short hug, I said "thank you"he looked at me and said "No, thank you"and then I happily died...
But I guess I was resuscitated due to all my good acts in my life ( hm.... yeah... good acts) and I found myself running like crazy with my friends to catch a good spot... and we did!!! We stood by the stage.. there was only one woman separating me from the fence... ( and there was another one on my side trying to kill me and pushing me but hey!!!! no one was gonna make me stand far from Jordan after he gave me the "yes"!!!)..
There we were standing for two hours waiting for the concert to start when I realized that I cheated on Jordan with his brother... srsly....... I had them both there and I whispered to Jon's ear.... I hope Jordan didn't see it... :-)
The concert was amazing, as far as I am concerned it was the best night I had in I -can't -remember- how- long. the guys were great, funny and teasing us all the time.
During "games"I knew it was time to put my sign in good use and indeed .. Jordan saw it and laughed, then Donnie saw it and laughed.. and I was so happy. Srsly. after all that long wait, all the excitement, the flight, the stalking and the freaking cold I was at an NKOTB CONCERT!!! I was making a dream come true.. I don't know how many of you got to feel what it is to make a dream come true but it is something you can't really explain with words.. just amazing..
The concert went on and Jordan didn't take off his shirt, sure, I got some great eye contact (specially during summertime) and I got a wink by Jon ( Shh... Jon, you wink like that one more time and Jordan will realize we are having a little adventure!!)
So the concert was done.. and I was still like a 16 year old kid that took 1000 speeds..... srsly. I was so hyper....
On the taxi on our way to the hotel I started to realize how lucky I was, making a dream come true, meeting the guys, sharing it with great friends I met on this amazing NKOTB journey. really I felt like my adventure was complete, like I got more than I ever expected, I was really willing to go home and call myself the happiest woman alive... but the night had one last good surprise for me...

New Kids break out old and new tunes to rock BJC crowd

Those walking into the Bryce Jordan Center fearing the worst or expecting a clinic on corniness forgot something about the New Kids on the Block. They forgot that the boys are now seasoned performers and know very well how to entertain a crowd.
It has been nearly 20 years since the five energetic and youthful teenagers from Boston were filling up some of the world’s largest stadiums with die-hard, passionate and screaming teenaged girls.

Today, the names and faces are the same, but the atmospheres are a little different. The screams aren’t quite as loud. The dances are a little slower and the stadiums are now arenas. But along with a live band of grungy guitars and thumping drums, these guys still rock it out.

The men of New Kids on the Block, the quintessential boy band of the late 80s and early 90s, strutted their aged Converse All-Stars onto the stage in front of nearly 3,000 screaming female fans.

The dreamy smiles that once sold every piece of merchandise imaginable to teen girls two decades ago, from curtains to marbles, are flashing once more on a monster comeback tour that is trucking from coast to coast.

Even though over the past two decades the fandom has died down, the show, the lights, the music and the voices are as big as ever. The screaming fans that once filled stadiums are now holding jobs, maintaining families and living a drastically different life than their former teenage selves. But for one night, these women were able to rekindle their lost teenager, dust off their cassette tapes, and sing the hits one more time along with Jonathan, Joe, Jordan, Danny and Donnie.

Aside from a few concert clichés that dated the quintet, including crotch grabbing and telling the fans to put “their hands in the air,” the boys put on a fresh, upbeat, and loud performance.

Most of the guys still have their pipes and the same energy as their twenty-something selves. Jordan Knight and Joe McIntire don’t miss a step with their clean and powerful vocals, and shiny, picture-perfect smiles.

The guys mixed old and new tunes together to create a bumping club atmosphere. Lights, dancers and effects created a truly compelling event—an experience that only true, passionate performers could pull off 20 years after their debut.

During their 14-year hiatus, the group’s members did not exactly stay in hiding. Some pursued solo careers, acting careers and some showed up on reality TV. However, beginning last year they aimed to garner the energy and excitement of old and bring their sound back to the ears of America.

With several months and many stops to go on the tour, the group seems to be enjoying themselves. Chronicling their escapades in a blog on the group’s Web site, McIntire and Donnie Wahlberg write about each show with uninhibited enthusiasm.

“Tulsa was on fire,” Wahlberg writes. McIntire chimes in with “These crowds are sick. These shows are sick. This tour is sick. Viva The Block.”

Wahlberg said the noise Tuesday night in the BJC was comparable to the Baltimore show, which had previously been tabbed as the best crowd on the tour.

Stopping into a college town might seem like an unusual step for a group who was popular when most of today’s college students were toddlers, but the crowd’s energy still stayed strong and the boys from the block fed off that liveliness.

Twenty years after conquering the world, the kids come back as men and the crowds, although smaller, still go nuts and sing loud. They are conquering something different today. They are coming full circle and winning over each crowd they step in front of once again.

Today I read a review of Baltimore show that I'm not even willing to post here, the only thing I can say about it is that the reporters mom works night's.. if you know what I mean... Anyways the guy (thats probably deaf and blind) said that the guys didn't change the songs, that they didn't "mature"them.
I, of course, couldn't disagree more.. i guess it is because i do get my ears cleaned every once in a while so I actually get to hear and also because I'm not jealous of the guys being hotter than me..
But anyways, when i read that it got me thinking about Joe's medley, that piece of work proves more than anything that our boys did "mature"the songs, that they see them from a grownup perspective. Nostalgia? sure, but what is wrong with nostalgia?

Joey McIntyre says New Kids on the Block regrouped partly to prove they've still got it --the right stuff.
So 14 years after they split, they recorded and released a new CD, "The Block," and launched a comeback tour that's surprised the music world by selling out arenas.
"We got back together because it was a challenge. I don't think it was because we needed to prove people wrong," McIntyre said, phoning from a tour stop in Nashville. "It's just that maybe the history of the group was looked at in a way we didn't agree with, and we felt maybe we could write the final chapter."
McIntyre said it was equally important to tour with new music.
"We wanted to feel fresh, like we had some new guns. We didn't want to do a complete nostalgia tour," he said. "That's what's so great about doing a new album you're excited about, one that's gotten a lot of play and hits.
"This way, when we go out there, we can embrace the past wholeheartedly and still do some new stuff and feel excited about it."
Audiences still scream, loudly as ever, but this time he can hear himself think -- and sing.
"Ear monitors!" McIntyre exclaimed. "We have ear monitors now. I look at some old tapes and go, 'Man, I did OK considering I couldn't hear myself.'"
In their heyday, New Kids on the Block sold more than 70 million records, sold out stadiums, and launched a merchandising frenzy. Their fans were mostly young teens, girls especially, with unlimited throat power.
Today, they're old enough to embrace a little nostalgia, just as Monkees fans turned out en masse for their heroes' 20-year anniversary tour in 1986.
"They always say teenybopper fans and teen idols move on," McIntyre said. "That's true they move on, but they never forget. There has to be enough time where they want to get away again.
"Our fans now are mostly in their late 20s [and 30s]. They have careers, and they're mothers and wives with responsibilities. This is just perfect timing for them to get away and have some fun."
Expect a hit-filled show ("I'll Be Loving You Forever," "The Right Stuff," "Step by Step") with lots of dancing, especially by McIntyre, who placed third with Ashly DelGross a few years ago on "Dancing with the Stars."
That means he flashes more moves than band mates Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and Jordan and Jonathan Knight, right?
"I got a little bias," McIntyre stammered. "I think we all have our own styles."
That goes for fashion, as well. Expect costume changes.
"Not as many as Cher, but there are a few," McIntyre said. "But it's not over the top. It's mostly urban cool. We add some bling here and there. We just want to feel cool and fresh. But, at the end of the day, you've got to deliver."
After New Kids split up in 1994, McIntyre hung tough in showbiz. He delivered a few solo CDs, including a standards set and appeared on Broadway in "Wicked." He also married and had a son, Griffin, born in late 2007.
The McIntyre family goes on tour together. Joey said his wife, Barrett, not only takes the screaming in stride but hangs out with fans before shows.
"She's the best," McIntyre said. "She's got a little dog, and takes him to the venue and goes for walks. Thank God, she's got a great sense of it."
She doesn't mind him thrusting on stage, playing to the women.
"That's the really nice part, the maturity of this whole thing. You can experience it, and it's a balance. You want to go out there and be sexy and turn the crowd on. There's been a million pop stars doing it who are happily married. I'm one of those guys."
"The Block" produced mild hits with "Summertime" and "Single" while the world tour has been a smash. That means, for now, the reunion will continue. New Kids will also launch a summer amphitheater tour.
"The whole tour has been amazing," McIntyre said. "We're just trying to keep giving back."

Nashville review

It’s been 15 years since New Kids On The Block split up and 17 years since they last played Nashville. But you'd never know it, judging by the massive crowd that packed Sommet Center for their concert Monday night.

The fans were mostly female and just a teeny bit older, but they acted like they were preteens again when NKOTB took the stage.

“The fans are just as wild,” says Jordan Knight. “I think we made an impression on our fans when they were really young, and when we do a show those feelings come out, even when you’re older. Its like hearing a song. We all do it. I know I do it when I hear old songs -- it brings me right back to that moment and I get the same feelings. Like I said, our show is like an escape from reality. It's an escape from the mundane, day-to-day life that we all live, so you come and you have a free pass to go wild, or dance or cry or laugh and sing. It’s a great time.”

Indeed, it was as if no time had passed at all. The guys, who are still gorgeous, performed for nearly three hours, dancing and singing the whole way through without ever seeming out of breath.

Looking across the sea of screaming fans rocking side ponytails and crimped hair and decked out in neon T-shirts emblazoned with the boy’s faces, I couldn’t help but feel like I was 12 years old again at Starwood Amphitheatre. The whole scene made me weak in the knees and I found myself squealing with glee from start to finish.

David Kells, Sommet Center marketing director, summed it up best when he said, “You know, there’s going to be a lot of moms who won’t be able to scream at their kids tomorrow.”

New Kids on the Block: They're back!
Joey McIntyre is still a Kid, but he's been around this block

Joey McIntyre is on the road again, but not with Dancing with the Stars.

"I'd like to get that a little lower down" on the resume," McIntyre says, laughing, in a phone interview from his Los Angeles home. "Not that I'm not proud of it. I have a great sense of humor about it. I learned a lot from that show."

Yet in a career that includes a leading-man stint on Broadway and a role on TV's Boston Public, it's not the thing for which he most wants to be remembered.
No worries.
That undoubtedly will be New Kids on the Block, the boy-band-that-begat-all-boy-bands that is once again inspiring screams on a well-received reunion tour that stops tonight at Amway Arena. Without Dancing with the Stars, it might not have happened, McIntyre says.

"The manager for that tour, Jared Paul, is our manager now," he says. "It's how we started working together. I saw how he worked and how he put that tour together. I thought he was capable and knew the animal enough that if we wanted to make it happen, he could facilitate it. That was definitely part of turning the ignition."

Now that the engine is running, McIntyre says that the experience is fun, if occasionally weird. At 36, McIntyre is about 10 years older than many of the original fans who are returning to see him and other no-longer-kids Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood. Teenagers learning about the group from "Click Click Click" and the Ne-Yo collaboration "Single" off the 2008 reunion The Block are also in the mix.

"We've had a hit video with a lot of airplay, so there are these young teenage fans," McIntyre says. "I see these teenage girls looking up, screaming, and it's trippy. It's a range of emotions.

"It can feel rock 'n roll and it can feel weird at the same time. It depends on the moment. I don't know if our fans are brainwashing the next generation or they really like us, but they seem to be having a good time."

That goes for the Kids on stage, too.

"Yeah, it is fun," McIntyre says. "I think our fans our happy and even the critics had to give it up a bit, too."

Whether it's rehearsing for a tour or putting together an album, being in the New Kids has always involved diplomatic compromise, McIntyre says.

On stage, "we didn't want to run around like banshees, like we did in the day. But we didn't want to sit on stools and sing the songs. So there's more choreography now than back in the day. There were arguments and stuff, but we really hit the right vibe.

"There were plenty of days when it was like, 'Oh man, how's this gonna come together?' Because we're all the bosses, you can't really bark at the boss."

That relationship goes back to the group's formation, which was organic compared with the boy-band formulas at work from the 1990s to the new era of Disney-spawned pop stars.

"We're special in the sense that it wasn't this big cattle call," McIntyre says. "It wasn't American Idol; it wasn't Making the Band.

"We all have a lot of character but as performers, to come together and be on the same page is the biggest challenge. The more you do that, the more you're going for the same goal, the bigger the payoff. We were able to do that in a big way."

So does McIntyre feel a sense of deja vu when he watches the screaming fans of Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus?

"My son is only 15 months, so I don't have any kids that would be following it. As far as the hysteria is concerned, I can identify with that. I don't know any of their songs."

On the business side, however, Jonas Brothers' reality is vastly different, he says.

"We had 10 Top-10 records, but a lot of people said it flew under their radar because our audience was so young. Now, it's like the media has changed the way it's marketed. People respond much differently now than they did in 1989."

Will there be another New Kids album and tour?

"This could very well be the last hurrah, which would be great," McIntyre says. "But we enjoy the process and I think we love to do what we do. Personally, I would never close the door."

Now, like a vision from one of our very sweetest dreams, they’re back. All five original members of New Kids On The Block have reunited for an American tour, and they’re coming to Music City. But why, after all this time, did the guys finally decide to regroup?

“It was kind of always left open as something that we would probably do, but it was just a matter of us getting around to it and waiting for the right timing,” says Jordan.

And there were definitely growing pains once they were all back in the same place. “It was surreal at first, definitely surreal,” Jordan recalls, “but after a few days we kinda just fell into the same group that we had before.

“I didn’t know, going into the studio, if anyone’s tastes had changed or if they wanted to go on some weird tangent musically,” he adds. “I didn’t know, if I went into the studio with Joe, if he wanted to do Indian meditation music, or if Donnie wanted to do, you know, hardcore rap or something like that. But we got in there and everyone was right on the same page, so it was just like old times.”

And while the Kids are aware that the bulk of their mainly female fan base has grown up just a bit since the band’s heyday, Jordan says the ladies are still just as frenzied as they ever were.

“The fans are just as wild,” he says, laughing. “I think we made an impression on our fans when they were really young, and when we do a show those feelings come out, even when you’re older. It’s like hearing a song. We all do it — I know I do it when I hear old songs — it brings me right back to that moment and I get the same feelings.

“Our show is like an escape from reality. It’s an escape from the mundane, day-to-day life that we all live, so you come and you have a free pass to go wild or dance or cry or laugh and sing. We give that to the audience, and hopefully the audience really catches on and it’s a great time.”

TULSA - When Donnie Wahlberg pulled a grinning preteen girl dressed in an “I Love New Kids on the Block” T-shirt onto the BOK Center stage to serenade her with the peppy love song “Cover Girl,” it was like 1989 all over again.
Former boy band New Kids on the Block (kicking some ass) brought countless musical memories along with their successful reunion tour Monday night to the Tulsa arena.

Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood showed they still have the synchronized dance moves, smoothly harmonized vocals and seemingly boundless energy (once again I am going to kick some ass)they did back in their heyday of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. And their still-fervent fans illustrated they could actually scream even louder than they did back when they were frenzied adolescents cheering on their teen idols.

The din inside the BOK Center often swelled to almost painful levels as the more than 6,000 fans (near capacity for the 6,500-person seating configuration) shrieked for their favorite pop hits from back in the day. The audience included adolescents, children and a surprising number of men. But as expected, the crowd consisted mostly of NKOTB’s core fans – the now-25- to 35-year-old women who as teens and tweens snapped up more than 70 million albums along with myriad T-shirts, posters and pillowcases.
Numerous fans again donned New Kids shirts and oversize buttons, and more than a few of those wardrobe choices looked to be ‘90s vintage or homemade. Several even dug out their old 1990 Magic Summer Tour concert Ts from NKOTB’s previous Tulsa show at Skelly Stadium. (That was the first concert I ever attended, so those shirts brought back fond memories for me.)

The former boy band didn’t disappoint fans looking for a powerful nostalgia fix. By the third song, the confident quintet was chanting the catchy chorus and doing the signature dance to one of their biggest hits, “(You Got It) The Right Stuff,” prompting deafening squeals of joy and the echoing refrain of “oh, oh, oh, oh” from the crowd.

They pulled out most of their infectious old dance-pop favorites and sweet bubblegummy ballads - “My Favorite Girl,” “Step by Step,” “If You Go Away,” “I’ll Be Loving You Forever” – and the fans gleefully danced, waved their arms or swayed to each song. If the choreography and vocals weren’t always quite as honed as they used to be, the vast majority of the audience didn’t seem to notice or care.

Jordan Knight proved he could still hit the falsetto notes on “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time) and showed off his still toned physique as he crooned “Baby I Believe in You” in the same fashion he did back in ’90, with his white button-down shirt open and blowing in the breeze from a wind machine. (Still? Still? the guy is as hot as ever)

Still baby-faced McIntyre, now 36 and often called Joe instead of Joey, also established that he still has a strong, clear voice and plenty of charisma, whipping the audience into a furor when he dropped to his knees to plead “Please Don’t Go Girl.” With the help of a sexy female dancer, he illustrated some sharp moves from his time on Broadway and the reality show “Dancing with the Stars” on the provocative “Twisted.”

Wahlberg again provided the Boston bravado, leading the way on the hip-hop throwback “Games.” Fit and athletic, Wood, who turns 40 in May, performed an impressive break-dancing routine. Jonathan Knight was still the quiet one, staying firmly out of the spotlight, hitting his dance steps just so and doing the camera work when the group enticed the audience into a little dance-off.

But the show wasn’t just like the old days. The New Kids performed several songs from their 2008 album “The Block,” including “Click Click Click,” “Dirty Dancing” “Grown Man” and “Summertime.”

The former boy band’s new hip-hop-infused pop songs feature more suggestive music and lyrics than their old hits, giving the show a more adult tone that was a bit inappropriate for the youngsters in the crowd (that is just too funny!!) .. The singers gyrated with their quartet of skimpily clad backup dancers, while fans tossed bras onstage and waved innuendo-laden signs. McIntyre at one point asked the wildly enthusiastic crowd “Is it me or do people drink more beer in Tulsa?”

One of the highlights of the show came when the quintet appeared out in the floor-level crowd, perched on a moving platform that also held a piano. The quintet crooned a pair of their new ballads, the heartfelt “2 in the Morning” and “Single,” dancing around the piano while McIntyre plunked the keys. They then burst into the relentlessly bouncy throwback “Tonight,” which Wahlberg guaranteed would weed out any remaining non-NKOTB fans.

“We’re having a great time out here,” McIntyre told the crowd. “We can’t say enough about what you’ve done for us in the past year.”

Though many have dubbed the reunited group the not-so-New Kids, NKOTB provided two hours of nearly nonstop entertainment, complete with several wardrobe changes as well as old and new coordinated dance routines. By the time they ended the energetic show with a rousing rendition of “Hangin’ Tough,” with a bit of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” thrown in, the singers were grinning like schoolboys, and their fans were beaming right back at them.

The show started out with an electric performance by opening act JabbaWockeeZ. The masked dance troupe, which has appeared on the TV shows “America’s Got Talent” and “America’s Best Dance Crew,” wowed the crowd with athletic, synchronized and often funny hip-hop routines.

Brush up on your ‘New Kids’ dance

The New Kids on the Block are back from almost a 15 year hiatus and stepping on the stage at 9 p.m. Saturday in Studio A at the IP Casino in Biloxi.

The band of five hunky males, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Donnie Wahlberg are back on top with their new album The Block, which was released in September and debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. top pop Album Chart and at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

New Kids promise fans a few surprises at their show, but Wood wasn’t letting any secrets escape his sealed lips.

“We spent like a week and a half tweeking the show, changing some things, and we let fans know as we go into the next part of the tour, it’s going to be completely different shows, and we want them to come back. So, I can’t give anything away. You just have to see it,” Wood said.

The New Kids toured the country in late 1980s and early 1990s as young mostly teenage kids and sold more than 80 million albums world wide with international No. 1 songs like “Hangin’ Tough” in 1988 and “Step by Step” in 1990. In the mid90s the band broke up and members went their separate ways.

“It was more of people wanted to do their own things,” Wood said. “It was like we had been on that roller coaster ride, and it had been going so fast for so long. I think everyone needed a break and needed to explore things on their own that they wanted to do.”

Getting back together was about the music at first, Wood said, “We didn’t plan to tour. We just said let’s make a good record and let’s go on from there.”

And Wood described their relationship as bonds that could never be broken. At this stage of the tour, things are really getting back on track.

“It feels great now. We are about 80 something shows into the tour,” Wood said.”The hardest part was at the beginning, dance rehearsal and everyone getting back into the swing of things.”

Wahlberg is credited with getting the group back together after being impressed with a demo tape of some songs written by singer/songwriter Nasri Atweh.

Wahlberg played “Click, Click, Click” from the demo tape for Jordan and McIntyre and it seized their interest. “Click, Click, Click” is the first song on the new album.

“The songs (by Nasri) were mature, but they still kind of had the New Kids kind of flavor,” Wood said. “His songs were very easy for us to hear us doing them. And we just clicked.”

The biggest difference in touring these days Wood explained is that most of the members have families and have separate buses, but Wahlberg and Wood are single again.

Fans have been very receptive, Wood said, “From day one it has been incredible, every turn has surprised me. Last night we were in Tulsa and the crowd was insane, they were crazy. It is awesome every night”

And fans don’t have to worry about them going anywhere any time soon. The band will be touring this summer and their single “2 in The Morning” just hit the radio and the video is on VH1, Wood said.

New Kids on the Block aren’t kids anymore, and neither are the fans, but the used-to-be-boy-band turns the clock back with ease on its reunion tour.

When the group launched into vintage material on Friday at Amway Arena, the screaming sounded like it was 1990. It was almost enough to forget that there weren’t enough fans to require opening the upper bowl and that there were empty seats downstairs, too.

That didn’t bother the fans in the house, and it didn’t affect the exuberant approach of the guys on stage. Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Jonathan Knight sang and danced their hearts out for a solid two hours.

And you know what? A lot of the old songs are surprisingly sweet pop confections after all these years.

Wisely, the New Kids realize that. There’s a new album to promote, but the group didn’t make the faithful wait for what they wanted.
The first 30 minutes were packed with favorites: "Call It What You Want," "My Favorite Girl," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)," "Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," "Please Don’t Go, Girl."

That opening salvo showcased the vocals of McIntyre and Jordan Knight, the latter showing that his falsetto hasn’t deteriorated with age. Wearing dark shades and a suit, he dominated the spotlight in the early going.

Yet the spotlight was shared fairly equally, with each of the members having solo interludes that also served as time-chewing breaks for costume changes — or maybe an oxygen break backstage.

Just kidding!

Most of the choreography was a nice compromise between back-in-the-day and stuff that would make a 30-something guy look silly. Even so, Wood did look a little winded after whirling around on his head in that break-dance routine.

What was genuinely impressive was that the singers didn’t lean on special effects to keep people amused.

The two-tier stage, with one big metal staircase in the middle, was utilitarian. There were no explosions or moving walkways, just a big video screen to provide close-ups of faces and the occasional booty.

At one point, the guys did go to the far end of the arena floor to do a short set on an elevated circular stage. A nice gesture for the cheap seats.

With the exception of the redundant "Twisted," the new material blended well with the oldies. "Grown Man," with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger singing along on the video screen, was a beat-driven highlight.

Wahlberg did most of the talking, even when he was busy collecting all the lingerie being tossed on stage. "Eighteen years ago, it was teddy bears," he said. "Now it’s this?"

Well, everyone’s older.

"It’s nice to see you’ve grown up so nicely," McIntyre told the screaming fans at one point.

By the time the group had finished the closing "Hangin’ Tough," it was evident that the New Kids have matured gracefully, too.

Spoilers from Biloxi : aka where the hell did BIBIY go??

Once again, if you are still convinced that not reading spoilers is a smart decision, please skip this post but know that you will never know what's in it.

First of all the show was very "personal"as girls that attended say. Donnie was ( of course) kissing girls and he even drank up one of the girls cup. (I'm sure i mentioned my need to move to the USA).
There was no B-stage so they had the piano on the main stage. and they also brought some crowd on the stage (MUST.MOVE.USA.NOW),all of them got in the crowd and Jon even was there in the crowd by himself for a while (selling my kidney to pay my moving to the USA).
What else? Danny's kids and Donnie's oldest were there.
the bad news are that there was no BIBIY!!!! Those are not bad new, thats terrible!!! thats a disaster!!! I mean, people go to the shows to see Jordan doing that and they didn't do it? i bet during the day we will hear the reason...
One of the possible explanations to that is that the show was really small, no side risers, no barricades (but a rope).
This was the smallest venue they played so far
Jordan, just so you know, once you guys come back to Europe. you better BIBIY me!!

Did you ever have one those days when you wake up smiling and then you walk all day like in a cloud? Those days when the weather is just perfect and everything happens exactly how you planed? Like the whole universe is on your side? Yeah, the days when you feel like thanking god for everything in your life? The kind of days where you know that the only thing missing in your life is Jordan?!!!
Well, that WASN'T my day!!! let's just say I'm glad I made it home without getting run over by a huge group of elephants, and without doing any major damage to anything. Yep,I am having the kind of day when whatever you touch gets broken, any plan that you have is changed or canceled, and no matter how hard you try to do something- it goes wrong!!
And why am I telling you that? Well first of all coz this is MY blog so I get to post whatever I want!!! Then I am also a girl so I'm entitled of complaining out loud and looking for pity.
But srsly, I just realized on my way back from work that NKOTB have the special ability of making me smile no matter what. I often feel like our guys are so underestimated, like most people around me say "oh New kids on the block, the boy band from the eighthes?"and they make that weird face that I'm sure you have seen. Really most people haven't even heard them, they just remember a glimpse of a video from back then, or they associate them with cheap trashy music. Why? coz they are five extremely good looking dudes, and they don't yell, or have big paparazzi " e channel"scandals. They are really just five regular guys that happen to make wonderful music. But you have to be able to let yourself really hear them not only with your ears but also with your heart and not judge them because of what you think they are- without even listening to them.
For me they are something else, they are the ones that can make a completely crappy day into something good just by "dirty dancing"in my ears. They can take me to places far away from where I am with something as simple as they're voices.
Those five guys have brought so much joy into my life and into so many lives of so many people that sometimes I get really mad when people give me the "oh no not NKOTB" look. I mean, most people will never ( I think) be able to reach the joy that us, Blockheads, feel when we go to a concert or even see a new video. Most people will keep on staying in the schemes they know , schemes that say that five guys on a stage is not cool unless they have some heavy bass guitars. Most people will keep missing on one of the biggest pleasures in life - having Nkotb on your music player after a long day at work. And yes, most people might think I am crazy, I'm dumb, or just have bad taste in music but you know what? I DON'T FREAKING CARE ABOUT WHAT MOST PEOPLE THINK. Coz srsly, they so don't get it that sometimes i feel like I am wasting my time trying to explain.
So instead of explaining to those who don't get it, I rather remind those who do get it how lucky we all are that this is happening to us, that the kids are back on the block (sorry, had to use that) that they are still the great people they once used to be, and most of all that we get to share this with them and with one another.
And in the words of Donnie:

Ohhh... this is almost the last part and once the last part is done I wont have any more personal experiences to share.. until they come back this fall.. coz THEY ARE COMING BACK- RIGHT!?!?
OK, back to the story..
So there I was lying in my bed in frozen Amsterdam trying to get my beauty sleep to be able to look decent (well decent is not exactly what I had in mind.. but you know what I mean)for the M&G and the concert but I just was unable to sleep, I went over and over again trough my stupid conversation with Jordan and was still hoping that maybe it was just a bad dream but the cold on my feet and the frozen nose were a proof to the fact that i was awake....
So,morning comes and I decided that Jordan has met so many crazy fans and I am probably not the worse so maybe he won't remember me at all and everything will be fine.

I'm stopping the story just to let you know that I am the center of the universe and that things happen to make ME feel OK.. no I'm not crazy (OK so maybe I am) but just listen to this:
That night I posted on ning and nkotbfans about my meeting and how bad I was feeling about it. I wake up in the morning and while having my 2nd coffee (Why can't they have milk in Amsterdam? don't they have cows?!?!?!?!) i see on Jordan's myspace status that he wrote :"failing on making everyone happy" and since I am the only thing that Jordan has in mind I figured he wrote that for me. Well.. that or that he was in a crappy mood last night and that means he won't remember me.

Back to the story (don't you love the way I do those pauses in the story to keep the mystery??)
So I wake up, get dressed, put some more layers on, another layer and a few more layers to be able to get out the room without getting my ass frozen and I decide that today is going to be a good day no matter what!!
Then I met my friends and we decided to go for breakfast .. we were all dying to have pancakes so we had.. an English breakfast (3rd coffee of the day and it isn't even 11:00 am, Jon will be proud).. yeah that shows you how consistent I am.
We get back to the hotel and we see there are way too much blockheads so we figured the word about them being in that hotel was on the street (wasn't me!! srsly, I kept it as a top secret, I really did). Since we didn't want to stalk to much and we decided that we were gonna act like 30 year olds we just moved to the bar (4th coffee). Then we see Joe escaping from the "secret exit" of the hotel (and since we are grownups we don't even try to get close), he was wearing his regular black hat and jeans (guys c'mon I'll do ALL of your laundry)and he had a newspaper stuck in his pocket. We thought he was going to go hide in one of the American bars around to have some silence and read the paper, then we realized (he tells that in an interview) that he was actually going to Ann Frank's house (To think that I was there 2 days ago and all I had in mind was "where are the new kids" *sigh*).
As concert time is close more and more Blockheads arrive to the hotel... but we decided that we were not joining the party, so we sat far in the back of the lobby (turned to be a good decision- read and learn my fellow Blockheads). Around 3:00 pm we see the crew getting ready to leave the hotel and we also see Joe hiding (shhh.. Joe don't worry we didn't tell). Since the crew understood that the blockheads are not going anywhere (lol... they know us well) they realized they will have to bring the boys out to the cars passing the lobby YAYY!!. I didn't see Danny and Joe getting in the car. I did see Jon, he just walked by with Tinny and didn't stop. Jordan came next. The girls were wishing him good luck and taking pictures and all. We remained in the back of the room, away from the madness, but we did stand up (I wanted to see Jordan) and then magic happened again: a girl told him "have a good concert" and for some reason he looked at the end of the room, straight at us and saw us, we smiled an waved (and didn't faint and didn't run to hug him) he smiled and waved back and said "NOW, I will have a good concert". I decided that the NOW was meant for us, like that since he saw us he will have a good concert, it just sounded that way.I don't know if that's what he meant but hey!! since he isn't here to tell his part of the story we will have to stick to my version!. Of course he was still wearing the clothes I'm dying to wash...
Next came Donnie with Tinny again. He did stop, shook some hands and took some pictures. One of my friends said hi to him and he actually recognized her and asked if she was coming to the concert and then left to the car.
OK, guys are gone and we have like 40 minutes to get to the venue!!! We went to our room, changed into the concert clothes and took a cab (smart smart blockheads).
We arrived at the venue at around 4:45 ( we were asked to get there at 4:30) only to see the huge line outside the venue.
Now dear ILAA ppl, if you are reading this: If you need any administrative help give me a call, I would love to help but keeping 100 ppl outside the venue while it is raining and the whether is well.. FREAKING FROZEN AMSTERDAM... well.. let's say it isn't too smart.
Finally the line starts moving and then I realize that the girls that where with Jk last night are standing before me and that means that we will be in the same M&G group.. so typical of me... like, if it has to happen to someone it will happen to me!! I must admit I freaked out a bit (fine,A LOT) but decided that NO ONE is taking my Jordan time this time. Man!! I've been in the Israeli military!! I can fight!!! I will be sure not to break my nails and ruin my make up while I fight but I'm soooo going to defend what's mine!
Finally we got in to what the ILAA ppl call party (once again, I can help in organizing it, srsly ILAA, get some help!!) a big cold room with NKOTB music. Something that looked like food that was chewed and recycled and a bar of beer and wine. (I had only 2 beers.. good girl!!). While there my shirt had some interest from a few male members in the room but I was too worried about standing first in line of our group to get to Jordan. My two friends where amazing, I don't know how they managed to stand me and not to kick my ass and tell me to shut up, srsly, I almost kicked my own ass.... I love you girls!!! tahnx for not killing me!
I got to see some friends I met the night before and I saw who then turned out to be Petra, fixing her cool Twix necklace.
Then we stand in line and yayyyy I AM FIRST!!(Sorry if I killed anyone in the way but it was an emergency) at this point one of my friends reminds me that since she has been to several M&G already she will take me to Jordan, introduce me to him and leave me there and go to say hi to Donnie..( I love that girl) so we are standing in line and can't remember how but we are talking about the fact that I'm wearing heels coz I'm short and I want to get to see something in the concert and of course being the girls that we are we started talking about weight.. lol.. at that point I was standing by Tinny, he looks at me from his hight and says "you are fine girl" .. it cracked me up!!
and then........
yes!!! yes!!! yes!!!
Man!!! I'm excited and have butterflies in my tummy just by writing that but WE WERE CALLED IN!!

I’m at Tulsa’s BOK Center, where dance group JabbaWockeeZ just finished their well-received 25-minute dance routine.

Now, the hyped-up crowd is awaiting the main event, the reunited New Kids on the Block. The last time I saw these guys was also in Tulsa, 19 years ago at Skelly Stadium.

I told Danny Wood of NKOTB in our recent phone interview that my first concert experience was that 1990 New Kids show in Tulsa. Here’s the expanded version of my Q&A with Wood; I interviewed him on the phone from his home in Miami:

Q: I must tell you I’m pretty excited about the show in Tulsa, since the first concert I ever went to was a NKOTB show in Tulsa.

A: Oh, that’s awesome.

Q: So I’m pretty pumped up about it because there’s some nice symmetry for me. So how has the touring been going?

A: It’s been awesome. It’s been beyond anything I ever expected or anticipated or even had in my head that this reunion could be. And for it to be now going on the second leg of the U.S. tour and then we’re gonna do a summer leg of the tour, too, it’s just amazing. You know, it’s an incredible experience.

Q: It sounds like you guys have gotten some amazing support from your old fans from back in the day?
A: Yeah, I mean, the core of the fans is probably from 25 to 35 and you know, they’re the ones who grew up listening to us. But also they’re appreciating the new record, “The Block,” and you know they’re also bringing maybe their nieces and nephews and they’re reuniting with old friends. So it’s definitely like a girls’ night out, you know, everyone getting together like a party.

Q: So what are the crowds like at the shows then?

A: You know, It’s the core of the fans, 25 to 35, but then there’s a younger generation of fans. I mean, my daughters are 9 and 10 and they went from being Jonas Brothers fans to New Kids fans. So there’s some younger kids there, there’s parents bringing their kids to the show, you know, to show them what they grew up listening to. So it’s pretty diverse.

Q: Are they pretty enthusiastic? Lot of feedback from the crowd?

A: Ah, yeah. I mean, that was the kind of shocking thing where they’re probably louder than they were before. The show opens up and it’s just hysteria. But now it’s grown women jumping up and down and screaming instead of teenagers.

Q: You guys are obviously grown men performing: What is like touring now, playing the arenas now and touring now? How is it different than it was back in the day?

A: Well, back in the day it was like a speeding train. You know, it was moving so fast, so (there) was not much time to enjoy it. And this time, we’re all taking the time to enjoy it and really appreciating it. But it’s a lot easier this time because all of us, we’ve learned from all of our mistakes, and now we’re surrounded by all great people working for us. And we’re in control of everything that goes on.

Q: Is it harder touring now when you have family and other obligations?

A: That’s the only difficult part is being away from my kids. I rely a lot on iChat on the computer. And you know, being in the U.S., they’re able to come out and they’re gonna visit a couple times on the tour.

Q: How many kids do you have?
A: I have 9- and 10-year-old girls and 16- and 17-year-old boys.

Q: So that’s four total?

A: Yes.

Q: That’s a great crowd right there. Little bit of space between the two sets?
A: Yeah, yeah, no, they’re awesome. They’re awesome. That’s the best part is being able to share this with them. I never thought they’d be able to see me back onstage doing it.

Q: What did you do in those intervening years besides have four kids?

A: Well, you know, that took up a lot of my time. I was raising them, and I’m also part owner and vice president of a private jet company called Halcyon Jets. So I went into the business side of things, and I also recorded a couple of solo albums.

Q: Did you ever imagine in those intervening years that this would reunion would happen? Did you have in the back of your mind that it would be possible?

A: No. In fact, I had the opposite in my mind, that we would never get back together is what I thought.

Q: Was there some reason you were so sure it wouldn’t happen?

A: It’s just - 15 years. What boy band gets back together after 15 years, you know what I mean? (with a laugh) It just didn’t seem realistic most of the time. But when we started hearing music and really started focusing on making a good record first, then everything started to make sense.

And when we all got back together the first time and everyone looked good: No one was fat, you know, no one let themselves go, that was good, too. Everyone was in shape and looking good and ready to do it.

Q: How has your music changed? Obviously, you released your new album last year, “The Block,” and how has your music changed? And how has your approach to your music changed?

A: On the record, the approach was pretty much the same as before except we were kind of dictating what songs we did, we were dictating who we wanted to work with. But the approach is still the same: You get in the studio, you do the work, you sing your part and you leave.

Q: How do you feel the music has changed? Do you feel like it’s more mature? Do you feel like it’s more modernized?

A: Well, yeah, we definitely set out to make a contemporary record. We weren’t gonna make a retro ‘80s record or something. We wanted to make a contemporary record that would appeal to our fans because they’re listening to current stuff, you know. So we wanted to make a record that, you know, was contemporary.

Q: Was it important when you’re working on a new record to not come across as some sort of novelty but to make music that would sort of fit in with what the Top 40 stations are playing at the time?

A: We never have plans like that in our heads. We listen to music. We would listen to songs being submitted to us, and if we liked them, we did them and if we didn’t, we didn’t. You know what I’m saying? We never thought, ‘Who’s gonna play it? What audience are we gonna target?’ You first want to make record that you’d listen to, that as a collective unit we would all listen to. So, that’s goal No. 1.

Q: It definitely came across as something that was more mature and definitely it seemed to have more of a kind of hip-hop sound on some of the tracks than some of your older songs. So that wasn’t something that was deliberate, that’s just what you guys liked?

A: Yeah, well, we grew up on hip-hop, and you know, hip-hop now is pop music. So, it’s kind of hard to go into a middle zone for pop music and you know, we just started hearing songs, and that’s the stuff we all wanted to do.

Q: I thought it was interesting and good that you guys had updated that way, because hip-hop has become pop. They have merged a lot more since you guys weren’t making records?

A: Yeah.

Q: Did you guys keep in touch during those intervening years?

A: I’ve always kept in touch with Donnie; me and him have been friends since first grade. But the rest of the guys: I saw Jordan a couple of times over the years. I saw Joe I think once or twice in that whole 15 years, and I think I saw Jon once.

Q: So is it great for you guys to be back together because obviously you were a big part of each other’s lives?

A: Yeah, it’s great. Yeah, it’s like being brothers, you know what I mean? It’s like rekindling old friendships, you know. It’s been easier to work together this time around because we’re all mature. We all got families, it’s all real lives we have that are a lot more important than being up on stage. So it’s been a lot easier this time around.

Q: It sounds like you’re just more grounded than you were when you were kids?

A: Nah, we were grounded then. We had good families, and you know, it’s pretty obvious we were pretty grounded back in the day because none of us got into any crazy trouble like you see some of these teenage stars get into. That didn’t happen to us. But we were pretty grounded then, it’s just we were on a ride that was going really, really fast.

Q: Yeah, it always did kind of amaze me that you guys never did anything to make people embarrassed that they’d been your fans. You never did anything crazy like that. As crazy as your ride was, it always kind of amazed me that none of you ever went wacky like a lot of young stars do. So I always thought that was good.
A: Yeah, that was our upbringing with our parents and also growing up in Boston. It’s the kind of city that builds character.

Q: Was it essential to you guys that all five members come back together to have a reunion?

A: Yeah, yeah. We wouldn’t have done it any other way. The fans, you know to this day, they all still have their ‘favorite favorites.’ There’s a reason why we were so successful and part of the reason is the five different personalities, the five different guys. It wouldn’t have been the same if it would’ve been four of us or four guys and add a new guy or something crazy like that. It just wouldn’t have worked for us.

Q: And musically, did you think it wouldn’t be good either, because you sang together so well?

A: Yeah, I mean, it translated into all sides of it, the stage, the studio, even some of the business things. You know, we needed all five guys.

Q: Are you happy that you guys are back together? It sounds like it’s working out better than you even imagined. Are you looking to continuing to tour and make music for the foreseeable future?

A: I am beyond happy. This has gone beyond anything I ever imagined would happen. And we’re getting ready to start this next part of the tour, and I’m planning for my kids to come out, you know, a week into the tour and to visit for four or five days. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that. And, you know, our hope is that we finish out touring into the fall and then take some time off and then get back together in 2010 and maybe make another record or do another tour or do something - but definitely to keep this going.

Q: At the show, can people expect to hear new and old music?

A: Oh, of course. We do all the old hits. It’s not the kind of show where you go see some self-absorbed artist and they do their whole new album and do a couple old songs. We do all the old songs and then we sprinkle in the news songs.

Q: So it sounds like you’ve got the balance there with the new and old songs?

A: Well, we had to with people waiting 15 years. You had to give them what they want.

Q: So it sounds like your kids are gonna spend their spring break visiting you on the tour?

A: Absolutely. And the summer too. You know, when we’re on tour in the summer, they’re gonna be along for the ride.

Q: I imagine that’s an awesome family experience for you guys?

A: It doesn’t get any better.

Q: Is there anything you want to say to your core fan base that has come back some strong in support of you?

A: The same thing we’ve been saying all along is thank you. They’re the best fans in the world. They’ve been so amazing. They’re so loyal, they’re so supportive, and we try to return the favor by putting on a great show. So I want everyone to come down and enjoy the show.
